Entering a truce

I've just made my own kingdom

anyone know the best way to get enemy kings to agree to a truce if you're at war with them, or do I have to go beat them

problem is I'm currently at war with Rhodoks, Khergit and Sarranid, which is quite a problem . . .

it's mostly the Sarranid I want to get back to 0 relationship with, they're by far the most powerful of the three.

I currently only own Nelag castle  so I'm gonna keep beating up the Khergit to expand my territory, they're also not to dangerous when I'm attacked because I'm looting villages and such (they spawn dismounted . . .)

honestly, the easier solution now is to become a vassal of one of them, renounce, and start again. being at war with 3 kingdoms with 1 fief and no vassal (i assume) is pointless. you wont get anywhere. and nobody will accept peace from you unless your at least nearly as powerful as them and with high RTR.

im at 43 RtR, got one companion Vassal (Just one!)

about 150+ guys in garrison in my single castle, I beat up the Vaegirs so thay have now entered a truce with me

I'll just keep pushing I guess, The sarranids and Rhodoks pretty much leave me alone

It was mostly just to get access to . . . sarranid Mamlukes

EDIT. And then there's the fact that tournaments always seem to happen in Sarranid towns!

the problem isnt that you cant beat them up. its that it'll be hard to expand or do anything meaningful. they might leave you alone for now, but sooner or later they will organize a campaign against you. you'll probably spend too much time fighting in castle defense battles (which give no loot and prisoners). theres also the fact that you own a castle and not a town. mistake if you ask me. i used to do that, but its so much trouble to move court, and castles are worthless. in my current game, i gathered a 100 final tier soldiers and went for the town right away. as a bonus, you usually have 2-3 villages too.

Isn't mentioned in-game that the persuasion skill of the companion you sent may help on negotiations? I mean, wouldn't a companion with high persuasion help in a truce?

that's probably true

why is it a trouble to move court?

you need velvet and tools to move court. expensive, and a hassle to find (unless you actually keep it in your inventory all the time). you can call me lazy but to me, its a added irritation especially since when you start out a kingdom, your normally busy fighting and its a bummer to go all the way to jekala jst to buy velvet...

Velvet ? what the . . . .

I jsut don't bother the time it takes to redo my kingdom, i'll figure it out, amybe increase one og my companions persuasion skill if what estevesbk says is true

How did you manage to get into war with them anyway? This castle is on the edge of the map it doesn't seem logical to attract the attention of the Sarranids and the Rhodooks... About velvet and tools, they may be expensive but you can find them on some towns or raiding villages... I'm beginning to attack the nords, my only concern is Swadia because my troops are mainly swadian, although I'm getting some vaegirs now... but seems they are too busy fighting everyone else! =P

The Rhodoks just made peace with me, just because we've been at war for like 100 days without fighting

"How" you ask? Well, i kind of attacked sarranid caravans in the beginning of the game (doh)
I declared war on Khergits to gain territory.
It's my second attempt to make a kingdom, my first attempt was against the Rhodoks, so they hated me afterwards

SUCCESS!

If you have the patience they will do this eventually, the Rhodoks did it too so now I can pwn the Khergit without being disturbed

100 days that's about right.

Currently warband doesn't count any action the PLAYER does in it's war damage calculation when the player has their own faction.  That's why king's always think they're whooping up on you (unless your vassals are doing all the damage).

Actually there is a quick way shared on Chinese forum to gain a peace offer from your enemy.

Just attack enemy caravans.

You will probably receive a humble peace offer from kings after 3 or 5 of their caravans are eliminated.

one underhanded way of getting peace is to offer vassalage to the enemy king and never own up to it

you can still talk to the king, but when you deny the oath, he'll catch on to your gimmick and say 'what? you only did this to buy yourself time?!'

if i recall in my game, i was immediately at war after the 40 day truce because of that, but results may vary.

It kind of worked itself out

Just because I've been at war with them for so long.

If you guys are tryin to catch caravans what would you do?

Setup a camp near one of the main cities or routes into the faction?
