I was riding back to King's Landing to get a commoner friendly kill as I was leaving, but was stopped at Montibeil by a black armored man on foot. He asked for some money for the poor, I let him know the obvious in that he didn't look too poor himself, but he gave me some runaround about delivering it to them himself or some such. I wasn't interested in hearing it and instructed him to step aside if he knew what's good for him. He did not move. I gave him to the count of three. One, nobody moves. Two, I draw my sword. Three, I dismount from my steed to engage as I realize bolts are flying at me and he's swinging for my skull. The crossbow was above, never saw'em. I fought as best I could, but before I ever got started I was wounded and dying, eventually killed in that ambush at Montibeil Castle.
It was a nice way to leave the server after a good day.
Oh, and because this is the internet and everything is (probably justifiably) interpreted as sarcasm, no there was none in that story. I genuinely liked being outwitted, ambushed, robbed, and murdered in true roleplay fashion. It all made sense.
I suppose it's technically true, but I was clearly showing that I was going to attack so I thought all bets are off at that point, we'd fulfilled our rp obligations with intent to fight, didn't fault them for it. Unless ambushes themselves are illegal because everyone has to acknowledge that they're there? Which part exactly was breaking the rules, just for knowledge's sake.
Each person that is going to be involved in the fight is supposed to make some verbal action so the other side knows of their presence. The rule was invented to prevent random people from joining into fights they had nothing to do with, then saying that they were on whoever won's side.
Ambushes themselves are perfectly fine, but they're immensely hard to accomplish when you have to make announcements about everything that's occurring.
My enjoyable moment of the day was when a guys said after i told him not to insult me he said, "what you going to do, kick me or something?" to wich i replied with a temp ban
He was slain for a random, but then proceeded to spam admin chat before i could respond, calling me a retard, then provoking me, the funny thing, i was going to only kick him, then his comment moved my hand down half an inch to temp ban
