I have a question regarding Empire Earth II. First off, I searched whether there was already a topic on this game, but I couldn't find one. But here's the question:
Even though I checked the option "Fixed Team Placement" at the Setup screen of a Skirmish match, both the team's civilizations are still entirely scrambled across the whole map. Does anyone know why?

Because its an awful game.

Most likely an error, such as tried a mod and it may have changed some of the settings (I think the Civ placement is a script)

Empire Earth 1 is amazingly better in every way. RoN is fine too, but EE1 is unbeatable.

EE1 is awesome, amazing death animations!
Yes, I like how in every single situation, chinese peasants plant their spear on the ground then somersault into the pointy end with their bellies as they are about to die.

It's sort of like disconnecting as soon as you're about to die in Counter Strike, it must seriously piss off the enemy.

EE1, custum civ, +gun armor and HP to Cav, fully upgraded sword cav can kill tanks. Contemporary musket infantry does 1 damage

Still a better game than EE2

I just re-installed Empire Earth II, and bought Rise of Nations because it was relatively cheap and I had pretty good childhood memories of it. In both games I played two matches, and I got to admit that the Rise of Nations playthroughs were much more enjoyable. In Rise of Nations it was really fun to see your villages and cities drastically change each time you reach a new epoch. In Empire Earth II on the other hand, it rarely changed. In Empire Earth II, researching new technologies felt like a burden and very linear to me. In Rise of Nations, you can research on all kinds of different areas; Military, Economic, Political, Science, and another one which I forgot. Yes, this also applies to Empire Earth. However, the connections between the technologies and the area you are researching in makes little to no sense, completely neglecting the fact that some players want to be a prosperous peaceful civilization, establishing trade routes all over the world, paying other civilizations to do work for you. In Rise of Nations, you had so much more variety in upgrading or making choices, you could choose to be a religious civilization, a monarchy or republic, etc etc.

I don't really see anything on Empire Earth's part that is better than Rise of Nations to be honest. Maybe the silly futuristic technology in the last couple of epochs; other than that, nope. I am posting some screenies tho of my Empire Earth II playthrough.

It's more pure strategy, which makes it more fun to play online with people. RoN has all that other stuff, but in the end the MP games are far more boring.

Yeah, RoN ultimately feels very simple and cookie cutter for a true competitive RTS as far as tactics and unit combination is concerned... Very little diversity that you'd want in a Multiplayer match. Mind you, I absolutely loved the Campaigns and the game itself.

Empire Earth is much deeper. You can upgrade units individually and this alone allows for a lot of depth in how the matches are played out...

The only thing I remember about EE1 is the very first fishing boat.

Its a floating wooden cup with a dude with a spear fishing inside it.

**** was pretty septim back in the day.

You aren't supposed to be a peaceful trader in EE... It's like playing Battlefield and wanting to be a fruit salesman.
