I was wondering if there is any way to edit the starting stats from the different starting classes, and maybe change their names or make more?

grttz and thnx, thadivine

I've wondered that myself, then i read somewhere that armagan said something about that at least the classes were hardcoded. Dont know about skills though.

ahww ok :( too bad, Coz if it was possible we could balance them some more or just change them to whatever we like or even add new classes.
Well, guess thatll hav to wait.

I cannot change the 'initial starting attributes' of the classes ... but you 'can' modify them directly after starting play.

I often start a new character ... bump all their attributes to 24 ... and then race myself to see how fast I can get them to level 35.

I realize that ^ isn't what you meant but using the same technique could provide you with a way to balance a character to your own preference.

If interested ... let me know.

i would like to know the thing your doin too, if you could post it, itll be really appreciated

thnx in advance, thadivine

There are several ways to change current attributes ...

The easiest and most simple would be to use a tool like this.

It is called Cheat Engine and is a simple memory editing program. You install it ... open up the application that you want to modify (Mount&Blade.exe) ... put in the number that you want to search for ... when the search is complete, you can then change the value in-game ... search for the 'new' value (continue search - not new search) ... when you single it down to one memory location ... you can then modify it.

Have fun,
Narcissus

Narcissus, that's what I did to get my char to level 75 (though I used WinHack, rather than CheatEngine). TSearch is a good free one, but doesn't seem to work with M&B.

However I believe the OP was referring to a way to change stats in game, rather than with a memory editor.

Yeah ... there are a million of these little progs. I haven't heard of TSearch before, though ... I might grab it and see if I like it better than Cheat Engine.

Actually, if you will look at my above post ... I mentioned something about that. I didn't word it very well, though ... so if I made it sound the wrong way =

No new ideas?

Is it possible to change the starting stats after the game as someone suggested? Perhaps edit some conversation txt files or something? All the starting stats could be converted to 0 in a conversation. Then in another (or the same) conversation, there would be an option to make 1,000 attribute points available. You could assign whatever values you wanted to your character w/out the need of leveling him/her up by experiance points...

Something like that possible?

I dont think so, mainly because the stats are not related to the conversations in any way, and the line in troops.txt to "arma" dosnt seems to affect its stats (like I guess it should). I remember (remotely) of armagan posting something about being hardcoded, but I cant remember where, and I cant remember if he actually said that, or if someone guessed and was wondering about.

Ok, I dl'd Cheat Engine, umm, now what? Could you explain in noobtastic detail how to edit stats in game from there?
Cheerage :D

LOL! No problem ...

I'll do it very literally ... step by step. :D

Start M&B. Start a new character. Don't place any attribute points yet!!

Alt-tab out and start Cheat Engine. At the top left is a picture of a little pc ... click it and scroll down until you see mount&blade.exe. Highlight it and click OK.

In M&B, I believe you have three attribute points to allocate. Check and however many you have ... type that number into CE's Value field. It should be scan type of exact value for everything you do here. Do the first scan (this takes a moment ... the rest are really fast).

When the scan is complete ... go back into M&B and add a point to strength. That leaves you with two points left to allocate. Alt-tab back to CE and change the three in the value field into a two. Now click next scan. Go back into M&B and add a second point to strength. Alt-tab back to CE ... put the 1 in the Value field and do next scan again.

By now, CE should only have 1 address on the far left area. Double click it and it will place that value at the bottom area. Go back into M&B and hit 'reset changes' ... the alt-tab to CE ... the value in the bottom area should now have increased to 3.

Double click the number three directly and change it to whatever number you like ... then click ok. Go back into M&B and start placing all your new attribute points. :D

It will not show your new attribute points in M&B until you make a change so add a point to something and watch your three turn into another number.

Warning = if you hit reset changes ... you have to reset the value that you placed at that address in CE again. No big deal but just so you don't panic.

You are now a haxor to the maxor, yO. Hehehe ...

Have fun and be careful what you modify,

Narcissus

EDIT: By the way ... the reason I had you do it this way, was so that you could change any stat (positive change), that you wanted ... if you need I can show you a way to lower them also, but you have to do them seperately.

yay, thnx man, i had probs too  (btw, the lowering thing looks the same to me, just with other numbers right?)

edit: dmnit, i have some error:
error while scanning:no readable memory found in the region you specified

:( aww man, just thought i knew how and then this... :(
can you help me 1 more time plz :) ? (if you know how)

No idea why your getting that ...

I'll re-check and re-read this when I wake up ... most likely mid-afternoon or so. Just woke up and checked forums and am half-asleep.

Going back to bed but promise I'll check (if i can remember) ..

night,

Nar

Oh crap!

I don't even remember writing that! Sorry guys!

Looking into it now ... be back in a bit.

EDIT: Hmmm. I seem to recall the same thing happening to me and an easy and simple fix ... yet I can't remember what it was.

It was a simple setting or something I changed ....

Makes sure your basic settings match the ones that I have ... if that isn't the problem, then we can try other things.

Scan type: Exact Value

Value type: 4 bytes

Memory Scan Options :32-Bit

Do not check any of the 4 checkable boxes that are in the Memory Scan Options area.

Speedhack shouldn't be checked, either.

Let me know if that works,

Narcissus

Hmmm.

I've not been able to come up with a reason why it isn't working. I had the same problem and whatever I did was a simple and easy fix, but under the circumstances it is somewhat hard to figure out what I did (going backwards).

Anyone have an opinion on this?
