editing the horse model?

Hello there, experienced modders.

Today I had the idea of seeing if I could sneak more polys into the horse model so the angles aren't so harsh.

Well, right now I have the smd imported into max, and really I'm not sure what to do. I just want to add some more polys around the butt and smooth it for starters, but everything is whacky... the vertexes aren't connected, the skin is there and seems very mad about me trying to change anything... So I guess my question is is it possible to edit the model like this or will I have to weld the whole thing and then remake the skin from scratch (which I know nothing about yet so I hope not.)

thanks.

I've already done this as part of the Band of Warriors mod:

You'll need to re-rig the model to the bones.  There are tutorials available.

My horses will be released for public use once I'm happy with them.  I actually created the new horse model from scratch and rigged it to the bones.  You could probably use Meshsmooth to increase the polies on the native horses, but either way requires re-rigging.

My eye cathed one of your models Talak. Really nice! Can we expect more of your work in the future?

Thanks!  I'm not sure yet about future work as I have my own projects and real life at the moment; however I'm sticking with M&B for a long time to come of course

Hey, in horse models, how do you set where the rider is going to sit?
Unfortunately in the current version you can't, so I had to make my horses the same height as the native ones.  In the next version we may be able to adjust the horse skeleton, as the position of the spine is what determines the riders' position, as far as I know.

Yes. That would be nice.

Anyway, Wasn't it already 'posible', but just not 'doable'... I thought the limit was 1 skeleton, but that you could indeed edit it.
