Q: Not many people may know that but Sbo is the only clan in this tournament to have already played one of the past ECS seasons. Can you tell us what has changed since this first participation in 2013 and what motived you to play warband again in 2020? A: Back in the day when the first ECS season started, teams were not a thing yet. If you wanted to play competitive, you had to join a clan in which you usually stayed. Over the years we kept recruiting players and a core group of players established itself really quickly. We played competitive until 2015'ish. That was when most of us had to focus on real-life stuff, including me, so we had to give it a break. Ofc we always told each other we would be back for Bannerlord (despite knowing we might be dead until then). But the time came and Bannerlord, together with covid-19, came out. That meant we had a lot of time and a game we wanted to play together. That's when the core group of the "old" Sbo came together again. After a few days of Bannerlord we started playing Warband again and we finally started to having fun again Q: Roster-wise, you guys indeed know each other pretty well but there was one recent addition in the form of Neena which was spotted for your squad. Can you talk us through the challenge of welcoming a new member in a group of people who have been together for years, knowing she cannot be on TS with you during or outside matches? A: We are basically a group of very good friends playing together. But of course, not all of our key-players had the time or motivation to get back into Warband. That resulted in us playing 7v8 or stuff like that a lot in the first two tournaments. We just did not have enough players. That's why I decided it might be time to get one or two more just to avoid the stress of getting enough players. So, in fact, we got two more, Neena and White_Noise. Since we really just want to play for fun, it was important to me to get someone who fits into the team. Getting someone too competitive would be a mistake too since we as Sbo just can't offer that. A lot of us are not motivated enough to play training, so we just play MM together and one official per week. Our additions knew that and were fine with it. But most importantly I really like them and thought they would fit into the team perfectly. That's where things like teamspeak and competitiveness just lose in relevance. Q: Looking at the rest of the roster, what would you say are your strengths? Is there anyone from your own squad who surprised you this tournament? A: Troop-wise definitely our archers. They have always been our biggest strength. Bomber, Rambo and Sacco are definitely top top level shooters. If i had to pick one from the whole squad who is on fire at the moment, i would have to choose between Sacco and Grimoald. Sacco has become even better since we started playing again in march and Grim has always been a key player but even more now, inf or cav. But i love all of them, every single one of them is amazing <3 maybe not in warband but there are more important things than that
Q: With the new format, Sbo had a chance to play in the Master Groups but eventually fell short against WaC in the decisive match for that spot. What do you think you guys lacked to make it to OT, or even win the match? A: A bit of everything I guess. We played three trainings in the last few months altogether, which doesn't help. Since most of us didn't play for five years there are a few new maps we just haven't seen before and stuff like that. But the biggest reason is probably that we are still what used to be called a clan, so the skill levels of our players differ a lot. That makes it hard to compete against teams that just exist for competitive play, since they carefully pick their roster, have an insane amount of matches per week and stuff like that. Q: You will still have a chance to claim the title for the Challengers Group, where you are definitely amongst the favourite. What do you expect from your match against MF and is there any other team you are expecting to give you a tough fight for the firs second half coming A: To be fair I have no idea what to expect since I don't think we ever played against each other. I just hope it will be a fun and fair match. But don't get me wrong, we are coming to win of course :p Concerning the whole group: If we play against HV again, I expect that to be a tough game since they already beat us and tbh surprised us how legit they are. Q: Is there anything else you would like to share with the community? A: Thank you very much for the stuff you do for the community Tardet and of course to anyone who organizes tournaments these days, keep it up! gl hf for sunday @MF ofc! |
Milites Fortunae 6-6 Schwertbrüderorden |
Milites Fortunae 8-8 Schwertbrüderorden
Played on ECS_GER_1.
The match was really interesting yet map-sided. Sbo stomped the open then MF did the full reverse sweep on the close, leading to the draw. Well-played to both teams and good luck moving forward in the Challengers Group.

Was a glorious match. We threw way too many advantageous situations to deserve the win but the fights were still really close and tense. Props to HV, good luck next!
We were booked on ECS_GER_2 but ended-up playing on ECS_GER_9 upon HV request, I hope it's fine.
