Not everyone knows what Earthsea is or why flying is going to be implemented, so criticizing me for not knowing is futile, while saying I didn't search is a bit logical, but that's the thing the mod should have, some explanation. I don't want to search for hours to figure out what Earthsea is, he could give a brief description that at least tells us what he's planning to do, not "I'm adding soldiers, a new map, and you can fly. I'm not going to give any reasoning for these features, I'm just going to add them, and if you say anything about it, you're complaining."
 
He didn't do anything to deserve this trolling. He didn't do anything to interest anyone in the mod either.
That's fine by me. If it's not interesting it'll fall off the first page. If he adds things to make it interesting then people will keep it alive.

No need for your wasted effort in arguing over it.

Still, it would seem that trying to defend my position is as futile as trying to move a mountain with my breath. If you don't want me to give my input in this mod, then I will take it elsewhere where it will be appreciated and not taken as offensive.

Bollocks! Since you aren't contributing anything except bantering lipservice you could just help by keeping it locked up...

Arrogant as in I already have a mod out there, 2. my version of HYW mod outdoes the version5.1, want a copy?...where's your cred? Does it lie in harassing others for no reason other than you like the smell of your own opinion...put your money where your mouth is and help out or go away...

And honestly if your are dumb enough to not look at the links which clearly explain what I a getting at, then go back to the collection of rocks you used to talk to...get lei'd, smoke up, get drunk, but leave me alone...

'nough said...I am done talking to your no account personality...you and kirinelf...all I wanted to do is announce that I am working on a mod...and you 'broken arms' come at me like a couple of stalkers from a pedofile convention.
 
You can put multiple quotes in one post so please refrain from so many multiple posts, also there is an edit function but I'm fairly certain you knew that.
 
Yeah, I am a bit sawed off right now...now just because someone may have a tad bit more knowledge or an inkling as to what to do is no reason to get on his or her case...
  I just spent the better part of a year reading these forums like a text book as well as pouring over each file meticulously...and I am still daunted by the module system...I tried making sense of that yesterday and WHOA! I got lost fast but that says nothing for the 300hrs I spent modifying HYW 5.1 to figure it out in the last week(2 weeks rather-that's play-testing ,scripting, design and QC)...that's modding, the hardcore way. When you get there...and you're at that point after maybe 5 critical errors...you don't want guff from the peanut gallery. TRUST ME! :wink:

  I also did mention that I have a copy of "HYW Expansion" ready for any unbelievers at this point...especially for Gandalf and his partner...

  I made the units flow better and added many menu, script and triggers modifications. I also added an unified command structure for both mercs and factions and player kingdom...party_template, parties and troops are heavily modified as well as weapons...weapons can now break in battle. Crossbows have historical lethality...bows are not much worse...armies are huge. New sounds and graphics version 2.5 added.

things to add still - Franc-Archers and Scots Guard for France, Retinue Longbowmen and Cheshire Guard Archers for England. Add Assassins. Expanded Diplomacy. Expanded Interpersonal Interaction...All I have to do is re-work the Units and Factions and I have the basis for Earthsea...and there you have it. I won't pound it out like I did with this mod...but I and guessing, life permitting a quarter of a year for a beta.
 
I have read the books. I'm pretty sure Poalini stole her magic ideas as well >.>
I have no idea about coding for this type of stuff, but I willl play when it comes out!

BTW- Good luck with the mod...if there will be at least 50 percent of things from books this will be epic  :eek:
 
Thanks, Overlord!!! Those are my sentiments as well...I am rereading the books right now to get details...its been a few years. As far as the magic goes I want to include it by degrees...according to each school of magic. I am trying to work it out right now...

For instance...a finding spell(based on the conversation script for asking the location of a person)...to find the nearest Masterwork Warhammer...or a stronger one to find a spell book...mages wouldn't have to ask where anything is...and quests could be based on finding items and spells...such as the Ring of Errath-Akkbe!

Or a spell of summoning...say you want to summon a demon to fight your enemies...but is your summoning skill good enough to control the demon summoned?

Or there is a battle on...in the woods and its raining(lots of lag for weaker computers)...you cast a spell of weather working to make its clear(night or day)

I wonder if at some point I can add active animals for changing spells...say you want to be a tiger, or a hawk or a mouse...

as far as I can tell...these are all possible, especially the first two...

I have the audiobooks for the first 3 as well.

The first beta will cover the first three books and shortstories...a later update will contain info from all 6 books and shortstories...

If you actually were knowledgeable in this subject you'd find that indeed his protip is invaluable advice and is a model guideline. Having something to show before you post, especially if you're an unknown person who hasn't released a mod before, is vitally important.
 
This is true...but being new to these forums(I have been hanging out here for over a year now)...where do you find that out...you're just openly attacked and, might I say, that's just plain rude...especially if the attacker is not a modder(and just to let you know, I have a history of modding that goes back to Broderbund's Ancient Art of War and Ancient Art of War at Sea - circa1985). Also, to see some of what I have done with a mod...I have already announced that and found no takers except Llews2...he gets my version of HYW Expanded tomorrow...for him to update, if he so chooses. You can look at the HYW screenshots page to see a bit of what I have done.
 
Thanks...slow going as I am designing each soldier from scratch...along game guidelines...not 'just a bunch of numbers added and there you go...superwarriors'...
 
Are you gonna include the....um whats their name, Gedith(not sure about spelling.)
And what about travel... sea travel?
