EA takes helm from LucasArts, will exclusively develop future 'Star Wars' games

Oh look, Disney is doing what they announced they were planning to do:
Turn Star Wars into a license to print money.

And who better for console shovelware than EA!

Oh well, it's not like we'd ever get another X-Wing/TIE Fighter/*and the other two of that "series" I can't remember* game ever in any case, might as well crash and burn the franchise in style.
They set an awe-inspiring precedence with the TORtanic after all!
And EA doesn't own a company that can do a nice RPG anymore either, so a nice new KOTOR is out of the question as well. That and they killed off everything worth mentioning in TOR.

Can't be much worse than the zilch which has happened on the star wars front in the last few years. At least now there is a slim chance a game will be made.

Or did Kotor not count as a good game?
Cute, but no.

Lemme put it like this:

EAware today has very little to do with Bioware from the good days. Not saying you can't argue that ME3 was the more enjoyable game for you, but it sure as hell wasn't a RPG.
Also I know plenty folks who'd count KOTOR in for the bad days, which I don't agree with though. Even though it did already have a lot of the things that ended up making ME in my eyes, it was a very nice action-y RPG. I personally also liked the feel of 2 more than 1, but that's beside the point, different company and all that.

EAware produces EA bull**** and nothing else. The name is a franchise by itself at this point, see the whole bull**** when they opened a new studio with the Bioware name for C&C.

Funny, that image. Almost everyone that worked on the first but not the third has nothing to do with gameplay, design or story. You know, the important things.

The fact they mentioned dice in one report makes me think they will make some sort of Star Wars: Battlefield rather than a Battlefront 3. Because everyone wants DLC and no modding support on the pc right?

Hey guys I've got an idea!, how about we just don't buy games published/developed by EA anymore!.........no?, only me?, uh fine. In all seriousness why can't they just lay the poor franchise to rest, it's already been dug up by lucas too many times and its starting to leave a rather putrid stench that not even febreze can clear on the carpet.

Been doing that for a while now. It doesn't change anything, but I feel good doing it

And to answer your question:
They evidently think they can squeeze more than 3 billion dollars (plus further production costs for the movies) out of the new movies and games by EA.
Geezus, just think of those numbers...

Either they develop a **** game and you don't buy it, or it's good and you buy it. Where's the problem?

Good ol' Scully n' his logic.

In other words, when the next twenty Star Wars films are made, only EA is allowed to 'develop' the games that the corporate (I have no idea how it works) chain thinks will make the most money. That's sweet.
