EA recalls illegal brass knuckles shipped to video game press

I wouldn't of thought they'd need such publicity for what is a fairly high profile title, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're right Mage246. It's a pretty stupid thing to do though, there's bound to be a lot of kids who'd carry it around with them. The article mentions that it is illegal to sell these things in that state, so perhaps EA should be charged on several thousand counts of supplying illegal weapons!

Particularly useful for protection rackets and debt collection when you're not looking to kill the other guy, and they're far easier to conceal than a baseball bat. The added advantage is that the police response to assault is far less forceful than a response to a firearms offence.

They sent it to the press, it's not in every game, just the special press copies.

Just the press is a bit strange, is it a threat? Or is it for them to defend themselves against people who read their "positive reviews" and then buy a game that is ****? (Hopefully not, although I'm waiting until the bargin bin, got The Godfather for $9.99, correct value for it, had lots of fun though).

In the business world it's called swag -- free stuff that companies give you to get your attention.

Just like how Bethesda gave PC Gamer a bottle of Nuka Cola, along with a few other trinkets.

It's just like this, except I suspect EA went a bit far and then had a change of heart.

Ahhh, I see, cheers for clearing that up for me.
