Because releasing new games is supposed to be about changing what was bad about the predecessor?

In a way, yes. Deus Ex: Human Revolution seems to be heading that direction, the team that is working on that game, never worked on the original(not that sorry-ass excuse of a game that the 2nd one was, the first, awesome game.)

Funny thing about Deus Ex is that it's quite a ****ty game mechanics wise(let's face it, even by those day's standards the shooter aspect was terrible) yet despite that, it remains one of the best games I have ever played and second only to Half-Life in nostalgia.

Yeah, considering how good Fallout 3 was (relatively) for a series restart, and how many it brought into the fold, you'd think they'd try and improve upon the series and take advantage of their good fortune, but no, it's the same old ****.

No, it's Obsidian. Get them to go away and write out the quests, storyline and the like but under no circumstances whatsoever let the inept buggers near actual coding.

Just saw Metal Gear Solid Rising's trailer and I already started saving cash.

The whole cutting stuff reminded me a lot of the good old days with Jedi Knight.
It just looked ridicilously ****ing awesome, gory and fun.

Arch is right but I always like to say that "bugs can be fixed, bad design is forever". Even KotOR2 is nowadays fixed.

If I've understood correctly they are mixing gameplay elements from both predecessors, so don't get your hopes too high, yet.

They were given (and they accepted) a very, very tight schedule. Barely a year for a "spinoff". I'm happy that it appears that they have concentrated on making a proper plot&quests and fixing some of the most glaring mechanisms, like meaningless stats and skill-point & perk bloat, rather than putting more lipstick on a pig.
