With the new beta release I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread where the community can pick over the latest version and report back what they like or dislike about it.

The amount of companions generated at the beginning of the game and their generation (visually) is 10x better. On the new patch I haven't run into an unrealistic looking wanderer.

Nobles on the other hand still could use some work. Don't get me wrong their visuals have been vastly improved but there are still some outliers. Also the lighting within the encyclopedia when viewing hero pages seems to have been changed. I think this change makes the portraits too dark and may need a look at.

Started a new game just for the beta and enjoying it so far. But after talking to the village headman in the tutorial I received 57 Charisma which was strange.

That's a bug that started with the 1.09 patch. If you don't want to accidentally "cheat" and get that (huge) skill increase, you can either skip the tutorial or roll back to 1.08 until getting past that conversation.

As for the beta patch itself: I'm still seeing a number of issues with troop stats being off, and now most of the AI doesn't seem to block nearly as much as it should (at least when combat AI is set to "challenging" - haven't tried the other settings). Prices on bows and arrows are also still astronomically high, but on the plus side, performance does seem a bit better.

Apparently when you load an old save and you gain experience in one skill it will recalculate the level of your skill having in mind the new requiriments for each level and your whole pool of exp that you previously had.

Apart from some issues with troop stats and pricing... it seems okay. My biggest issue though?

EVERY NPC has become a huge lardass. Literally gained like 100lbs on every NPC.

Patch notes do not seem to address the issue of attribute points not being granted on every 3rd level-up in SP as claimed by the in-game tooltip. I've re-started the game several times now to test out whether it's been fixed or not. Right now, on my side at least, I have only ever received ONE attribute point, upon leveling up to level 4. Over each playtest. Subesequent level (7,11,14,etc) have not granted attribute points.

Why is this issue not getting talked about more/have a date for being resolved?

I like a lot of things about the new patch BUT:

1- AI NPCson foot rarely block now and win tournaments is extremely easy now because NPCs just spam attacks (it happens in any difficulty), please rever this. It was great how good AI was able to block attacks before. The new AI is not challenging at all and it looks like the old Warband AI.
2- I have detected a bug, I cannot set the skin color for my new Vlandian character, I select one skin color but when the character is created in the campaign it is different to what I have selected.

1.1.0 AI become such a dumbass in battle and arena even with highest difficulty... that really feels bad

Stewardship perks won't apply, I have the perk +10 party size per vassal and +5 party size per fief but they won't work.

+1.

While the AI of cavalry units is maybe better, the AI for infantry is just awful.

AI settings don't seem to change the blocking behavior, I have also noticed this. Also in tournaments ranged units switch to one handed sword when engaged in melee, as they should, but then they stay in melee mode and start chasing units around instead of going back to ranged (not sure if this also happens in battle).

Funnily enough, the no blocking behavior seems to make the AI better with 2 handers, at least against me .

I could be wrong, but it doesn't appear that trait XP has been fixed. Character traits still pretty much disappear immediately. That's unfortunate.

1.1.0 did a tweak where the player character no longer shows their helmet in a lot of screens -- I think this was an unfortunate change. Would be preferable if there were an option in the game settings about "show/hide player helmet" in the UI. I actually like seeing my character wearing fancy helmets, especially the high tier ones, in the menus and such.

Crossbow prices make sense now. Those harpoons however...

I mean, sure they're OP. But they aren't that OP.

It was all a commercial ruse. In previous patches they were cheap, cause they wanted you to get used to them. Now they are expensive as hell but you still gotta buy them.

Cause you're hooked.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The NPC faces look better, but there is still something wonky about their eyes. Seems the position is randomly generated so a lot of NPC's have the pupils looking straight up, like two lazy eyes.

The Sturgians still feel very lackluster. I just went through using a decent portion of their troops, but both the infantry and archers aren't as stout as the other cultures. Not to mention it seems as if it takes longer for the Sturgian troops to gain xp.
