I think some people would be interested in a mod based solely on the great game Dwarf Fortress, which focuses on the player controlling 7 dwarves found a colony and eventually become capital of their Kingdom.  The thing that it relates to in mount and blade is that it has combat, where you can train and send squads of dwarves with homemade gear to combat waves of goblins and other besiegers.  This will NOT be like Lord of the Rings, I will base everything solely based on Dwarf Fortress, for instance, there won't be Uruk Hai.  Another example is that eventually I'd like to add Beak Dog mounts for goblins.

Planned Features (Listed from Highest to Lowest Priority)
-Get models for goblins and goblin gear
-Make troop trees for dwarves and goblins based on items withing DF
-New weapons for both factions
-Decreased skeletal size
-New maps (atleast partially underground)
-Beak Dogs as mounts for goblins
-Trolls for goblins
-Other factions like elves/kobolds (exceptionally low priority)

Need Help With:
Goblin skins/models
New weapon models
New (atleast half underground) maps
Beak Dog modification to horses
Somehow make trolls? Lol.

Faction Specifics

Leather-Bronze-Iron-Steel Armor

Crossbows

Goblins
Weak but fast
Equip:

Thanks.  I'm actually... just learning how to use the module system, but I've hooked it up and got it working and so far all I've done is rename Nords to Dwarves and Sarranids to Goblins.  Now I just have to find out how to edit multiplayer troop trees.

I don't think it will matter that much since dwarves and goblins are the same size apparently.  (6)  But Later on I want to see if there's a way to make dwarve's skeletons thicker.

I think Faradon of Faradon's Smithy presumably pulled off some dorf skeletons, since he did some dorf armors in the past. Might wanna approach him.

Also, I imagine this is relevant to Dorf Fortress:

Haha. nice idea! I have yet to actually play the game, but it seems unique in a weird kinda fashion... so I have to try it some day! ^^
Oh, and before I forget; good luck!

DF mod? Kickass. I doubt you'd be able to manage flails and bodyparts sailing around wildly but that's minor. This sounds pretty dang awesome, I'mma keep my eye on it.

Amusing signature too.

edit: Yes@playablegoblins pl0x.

It would be cool if there were 4 or 5 factions(dwarves, elves, humans, goblins and maybe - horribly weak - kobolds) with the DF "classes". A dwarven player could chose between being a sworddwarf, macedwarf, hammerdwarf, speardwarf or marksdwarf in the troop menu. Maybe merging mace&hammer as well as sword&axe class is fine too.

Equipment should maybe come in several material tiers with rising prices, so for example a sworddwarf could buy a  copper(100 gp), iron(300 gp), bronze(900 gp), steel(2000 gp) or even adamantine(20000 gp) short sword.

There's more types of swords though, which are piss-easy to add to your arsenal. Scimitar, long swords, twohanders etc.
