Anyone here read the book Duncton Wood, by William Horwood? I read a lot, and I like to read, but that book was the best one I ever read. Mind you, most of the books I've read are rather unknown, and I never buy new books. My father finds a lot of books for me. He finds them in backyards and places like that, stuff that people throw out, but are still fine. "Klunse", we danes call it. I don't know if there's an english word for it though. Almost all his things are found that way, makes his house awesome (!).
Anyway, Duncton Wood is about moles, and reminds me of Watership Down. It's about the mole system/city/whatever called Duncton, which is dominated by the eeeebil mole Mandrake. The story follows the young mole Bracken, who's in love with Mandrake's daughter Rebecca. The whole system's falling apart, there's sickness, no religion, and so forth.
Anyone read it? If so, what did you think?
