Dumb Questions....how do you couch a lance and a few other questions?

I figure I must be an idiot but I cannot figure this out.

I bought lance that lists the ability to couch it, I even bought a fast horse, yet for some reason, my character never tucks it under his arm in the couch lance position. I have tried using "X" to change how the weapon is used and tried just running at the enemy as fast as I could but neither places the lance in the couch position. All I can manage to do is draw back the lance and strike with it, much like I can do with a spear.

What am I doing wrong?

Also do you have to have a specific number of troops for formations to work? I have about 20 infantry and 10 archers in my force right now and no matter what formation command I give my infantry, they never change formation. Not sure if this is a bug or I am doing something wrong?

Lastly, how do I raise my leadership skill? It says to keep up high moral but even with good moral and using tons of food variety, my leadership skill has not gone up at all. What am I doing wrong?

You have to be moving at a certain speed for the lance to be couchable, you'll see a lance icon pop up in the bottom right, pressing X will then couch the lance.

I've had trouble getting my troops into formation, however, I realized that if you try and put them in formation without telling them to move, they won't assume the formation. Meaning you cannot form shield wall while holding for whatever reason...

The initial horeses are ****ty they cant get to the crouch speed, and the medium horses only at or near full speed, and you also need a lance that has crouch in its description, usually spears are not, and my troops are just fine with formation, and I tried several, and usually I do the formation when they are holding a position

The whole thing should be " keep up high moral and leading armies." One group of troops does not consider as armies. I think you need to lead a number of groups and win to gain experience with the leadership skill. I am trying confirm that myself let you know when i have the answer

Also make sure you have spent focus points on leadership skill. (to have atleast 1 points on it in)

It seems the main way to raise leadership right now is leading armies, so you cannot really raise until you have a faction and other lords to rally with you.
