Played this mod quite a bit a couple of months a go (earlier version).  Re-discovered M&B recently (gave up waiting for an update) and just wanted to say I love this mod.  Feel it has the right mix of ranged and melee combat, and the guns really add to the game.  Don't make it uber easy to win and there isn't anything like wheeling your horse around and getting off a shot with your pistol while the enemy cavalryman shot whizzes past your head.

My only suggestion is to fiddle around with the smoke settings.  Have found a good setting to make the smoke linger for much longer in battles.  But it is mainly a matter of preference and performance for some.  I do love galloping through thick smoke to find a group of cowering musketmen, shooting one in the head and puling out my sword to slash as I dash by.

when you make the armours id think that they would look prettier if they werent that bulky for example :

This is auctally an M2TW screenshot but that was the best i could find on an short notice, check out the 1300ad knight, his armour isnt that bulky and he has an kilt to make the transition from upper armour to leg armour look better, compare that to this:

I do auctally think that the m2tw one looks more realistic, and the armours ingame are far worse than the mount and blade gallery armour that ive shown you.

Sorry I am not sure to understand what you mean  :oops: . Do you prefer the MTW2 armor, even if it looks more bulky than the M&B one ?
In my opinion, I prefer the smoother look of the second but it is not a realistic armor. I would of course prefer a real plate armor with real shoulder and arms protections.
The MTW2 armor has  more details but a bulky look. But I am soooo looking forward for this game since I saw the first screenshots. Only 2 months to wait.... :grin:

The armors in my mod are the property of The Pope, he made them for the Mesoarmerican mod
I quite like them though I know they have some aimation bugs. But they are they only creations on this forum that fits the more the look I was searching for my mod. And the Pope is one of the few modders who made a completly new mesh along with a new texture for an armor. But , like you, I would like that he improves his armors a bit. Maybe he needs help doing this. Not too much people in the modders community, me being part of those, have the patience and the skills to create a full new set of armor and then animate it. I have tried my hand at rigging, with Gmax, but my patience had its limits shortened and I left it for others.
I am also looking forward a full plate armor The Pope was suppose to do for his mod. But I doubt he had much time for it...

I thought that you would figure it out  :wink:
I meant that while the armours seems good on the modelling program they look terrible ingame, they look crappy to say the least with thoose kinds of textures you could make an better more co-herent armour. An armour that looks good moving aswell as standing still, ive found out that large kilts work great for this and the removal of the horrible shoulder armours that look terrible would be nice to the eyes aswell

Well just give the man an cuirass, greaveswith mail upwards and an kilt to the knee and replace the shoulder armour with an little shirt thang, you see on the M2TW picture,

the plated armour in mountand blade with an cuirass on the chest would be a good start.

You know everyone didnt want to nor afford Full covering heavy plate armour  :grin:

But the mod is great!( i still hate the musket delay though  :mrgreen: )

I can't really put in a mail kilt because it wasn't historically accurate for that style of armor. As for the shoulders, they are the reason M&B Plate armors have heavy shoulder pads. I had to choose between how it is now and having the breastplate change shape all the time. Shoulder pads conceal it, but I was going for historical accuracy and no one put those on breastplates. It's going to be buggy unless animation modding support gets a good bit better :sad:.
 
Hmm, it appears what I initially thought to be ZweiHänders, turned out to be "zweiLanders". Name changed with extreme prejudice.

Also, I have taken the liberty of eradicating the polehammer from the game. It annoys me to no end. I see lots of mods using it, though. Is it a vanilla weapon?
 
About the polehammer : do you mean you eradicated the Vanilla's one or my own polehammers ?
That leads me to an other question : have I assigned  the Vanilla's polehammer to some units ? If so, that is a mistake I made that needs to be fixed.

About zweilanders/zweihanders : is it an other mistake I made, aren't those 'lansquenets' (what's the name in english ?) butcher's two handed swords called zweilanders ? What is a zweihanders ? Is it a new thing I need to model ?  :!:

About armors : I have asked a new guy on this forum ,who seems to be skilled in 3d modelling, to make us, the modders, a good looking full plate armor.

I understand the point of view about The Popes armors, though even with their bugs I really love them.

I have come to realize it's the vanilla polehammer (I hardly ever play vanilla, so I wasn't sure earlier :oops: ), the one which looks like a lump of rock tied to a pole. Your polehammers, on the other hand, are sweet. Right now I don't remember if I actually found the vanilla one in any troop inventory -- I know I did in Hundred Years mod and 1066. What I did do for sure was to remove the merchant tag, so I wouldn't have to look at it again :p

I did notice that your polehammers had the "cannot be used on horseback" box ticked, though. And yet I can use them from horseback. Well, couched and thrusting attacks, that is. Is this normal?

Oh, and I changed the thrusting damage from b to p, as they have very pointy spikes. The Vaegir footman's polehammer does, at least.

The name zweilanders were given to the two-handed swords in the mod, which by all rights are Zweihänders. It's German zwei=two, + Hand=hand (plural Händer) -- "two hands". The Umlaut (the two dots above the 'a') is commonly dropped in English usage, making it zweihander. They are very well modelled, but they are Zweihänders.

Also, that's Landsknecht, not lansquenets (unless there's something entirely different called lansquenets).

"lansquenet'' is the french word for Landsknecht.
I feel stupid about the Zweihanders thing. I will correct it.
 
No prob. About the capitalization of the word Zweihänder: in German, all nouns start with a capital letter. I don't know whether or not it is necessary to capitalize German nouns if used in English contexts.

Hi everyone !
It has been some time since I have worked on this mod, partly because I didn't have much time. I am still trying to find a way to make it more interesting though, trying to improve its look and the balance of troops but my skills at modding don't go further than this.
I am still waiting the next version of M&B, but like everyone I am controling my patience by playing at all those new mods, trying to find something new or beautifuller.
Call it narcisim, or self sufficience, but my own mod is the one I prefer above all the others...But it needs sooo much improvements.

Again I ask for some help.

I need some courageous, intuitive workers and Python experts...

I only want to include Janus Arena mod, for now, changing the fighters equipement with my own weapons and helms (and the Pope's armors) to give it more gameplay option.

I don't understand why, but I have a lot of problem trying to understand how Python works. 

Any other ideas that you think you can help me include are welcome.

adding the arena mod should be quite easy, I could do it for you if you give me your source, to change the equidment used in a tounament you have to go to the mission_templates and edit this:
