Dueling Feature (!!)

So far so good! With the credit going to MartinF, I'll hereby introduce you to the duel option:

I think it still needs some customizing from Lords&Realms to it, but after that, I think it'll be done  :shock:
So Nick? Already have some typical Lords&Realms items/mounts/other stuff that needs to be changed in the current duel option?

Features so far:
- with enough reknown you can challenge lords and even kings to a FRIENDLY (?) duel
- you can challenge any member of your party including compagnions to duel
- duels take place in an arena, (maybe that's gonna be changed... depends on how hard it is for me learn:P)
- you can do duels either on foot, or mounted
- you can choose between several options for weapons, (archers, twohanded, onehanded with shield, and your own gear) (maybe add in jousting? (!))

 
So far very well, i would like to see an effect on our relationship with the lord. Like you win +1 you loose -1.
 
Pfieuw... first let me take a while to understand these codes a bit more  :wink: then I'll see what I can edit/add  :mrgreen:
 
I think betting will unbalance the duel feature. We already have the tournaments to make money. Because of the time factor this is balanced. Dueling you can countless times, which is too much for money.
 
very little xp on the moment... might want to change that  :wink: also the reknown needed to battle lords and eventually kings isn't very high, about 150 reknown and you can challenge a king... might want to make that higher  :mrgreen:

Yeah, 200 at least. Also good idea is to be more friendly with a lord if you win +1 and -1 if you loose.
 
Nick are you familiar with doing stuff like getting +1 or -1 relation, when you either win or loose a duel? I haven't really the faintest clue where to start  :|
I think it would be best if you somehow would get the kit but I'm not really sure how to get it to you:P

What do you mean? I need only the files you edited to try. What did you change?

I changed:
- module_constants.py
- module_dialogs.py
- module_game_menus.py
- module_mission_templates.py

So if I mail these to you, theoretically you would have them too? Now let's hope you didn't change too much for 1.5  :lol: At least not in these files...  :wink:

Yes. None of these were affected from 1.408 to 1.5. Give it to me baby!  :mrgreen:

If all goes well, yes!  :mrgreen: In my test version everything works fine, only thing is they are friendly duels on the moment, and they take place in an arena, maybe things I can change so it'll be more interesting...
But basicly yeah with enough reknown you can challenge any lord or king out there, you can also challenge one of your own troops/compagnions to a friendly duel...

*Maybe we can change it so that a duel against a lord, is a real duel? Like killing him when you win 3/5 fights? Ofcourse the lords/kings need uber stats for that to keep it fun  :lol: But that's just me dreaming... I'm not really capable of adding new stuff in it at the moment, I can only edit some minor things I guess... E.g. the place for the duel, the weapons you use in the duel, (maybe add jousting?) We'll see  :wink:*

Be sure to download the latest version of 1.5. Cause I uploaded a new version of 1.5 aroun 13.00h today.  :shock:
 
I have a few suggestions to make duels a bit more useful for the entire campaign. The "friendly" duel can be for your allies and the below ideas would be against enemy armies on the map.

If you win you go free unharmed and the enemy army walks off a short distance in a random direction (gives you time to get away before they re-attack you). If you lose you have to pay a ransom to go free or you become a prisoner (same penalty as if you lost the battle). To add a bit o' spice you could also have an option at the end of a lost duel to order your troops to attack anyway, and you lose more renown/honor. :twisted:

Or,

If you lose you are automatically teleported to your closest castle/town and lose renown, if you win the enemy lord and his army leaves the field and returns to his castle/town for 3 days and you gain renown.

Both of these options would only be allowed if you were a lord for a faction. If you were not a lord yet they would not be available at all as no honorable lord would duel a peasant. :wink:

Hmms, you've got some interesting idea's there mate  :D I don't know how much I can edit/add because I'm kinda new to editing .py files  :wink: And I don't know what Nick wants changed in it, hopefully I can mess around a while, so I fully understand these .py files, and then the real fun starts!  :lol:

To Nick: for starters what's the reknown you want needed for duelling a lord? And for a king? I can edit these reeaaally easy, it's done in about 3 seconds  :wink:
