Duel Server Rules

Many, many times have we done that, and what do they give us? Search and Destroy. Or whatever that new mode is named again.

But maybe they're saving the best as the last?

Using bold text or slightly larger text could do the same, without using all caps.
It seemed unprofessional and the thread appeared out of the blue not even stating what servers this was for, like someone hacked the admin and was trying to dictate everyone to use these rules from now on.

Afaik the server is now listed so that's no problem. Using all caps combined with bold text is a bit overkill though.

And yet people have been asking for something like this nonstop since the beta came out.  Maybe if you go play in a less "lame" server and let them have their fun, it'll all work out.

Anyway, I think you should remove the armour restrictions. If people don't think it's a fair fight they can always refuse the duel.

Why no armour? If both sides got the freebie one duels would last 1-2 swing longer.

Yea, without armor it's only about the first strike. Which would nearly always go to the vaegir. (Scimitars, 105 speed)

As for this tread's use, it's nada. I suggest we just beta test as we should and make a duel mod when the module system of warband gets released.

It is stickied because we don't have a duel gamemode yet, and a lot of people enjoy dueling. Also, your argument about caps is as logical as your personality is colourful and interesting. Using caps, underlining or bold are good ways to emphasise the main points or subheadings. They let the reader know immediately what the thread is about, so they don't have to read half of the main text to realize that "wait, I don't care about what this guy writes at all." A good thing to remember is that you're not reading literature, but a video game forum, where using caps can be acceptable, whereas not contributing to the thread otherwise than to mock someone because of some petty detail in his text is widely considered trolling.

By the way, I haven't had much time this last week to set up any duel servers (or at least I've been too lazy), but we did just have an unofficial one from around 3:30 AM - 5:00 AM. I'll try to get one up sometime this next week, but with Borderlands being able to work on Steam on Monday afternoon, it may be unlikely...

By all means, I will follow this as soon as you can host your own server but if it aint yours I fight exactly how I want to fight. For some odd reason, if I join a deathmatch game, I expect a deathmatch game.
I like this idea but it should wait until this is actually in the game.

I'd respect your decision if the developers had that same attitude, but they don't, which means I will feel no guilt for kicking you off a duel server if you fail to follow the rules. The only thing you lose from a duel server existing on a public server that originally had 0 players on is the ability to join that 0 player server and practice. The 12 people who join that duel server would never have been on the server in the first place, which means there is nothing to complain about.

Ah, then I did fail to understand what you were saying. That immediate voteban was wrong, but I can't control what players will vote. However, I can control how I will act, and whenever I'm running a duel server I make sure the new people can see the rules and are given fair warning before any kicking/banning is effected by myself. I also only create duel servers on servers with 0 players, but once again, I can't stop people from 'taking over' servers you're already on and polling out people who won't follow the new rules.

Whats the point of rules if not even the admin follows it , I hate playing with ADD people since they only use whatever weapon is the best for that patch, makes for an enjoyable time.

Some admins don't run duel servers by these rules, myself included. They're fun and 'fair', but not really helpful to balancing the 1v1 game. Though kicking you is excessive if all you did was mention it.

I didn't make the duel server rules listed here, I tell people what the rules I enforce are in game which is no ranged weapons, no horses and generally be honorable and make eye contact with your opponent, aka no backstabbing people (kevlar). I personally don't care if people want armor, it just makes for more of a challenge and longer fights for me to enjoy.

I didn't kick you (unless you were one of the people coming in under alias trying to ruin the duels), one of the other admins that were there did. Probably because you were running around using throwing weapons and generally acting like an ass. Should I post some of the more memorable quotes from the server logs of your intelligent commentary?

I don't use armor with my awlpike except occasionally some light leather armor depending on what everyone else is dueling in. I need the mobility. Thanks for making even more broad (and largely untrue) generalizations about me.

I use the awlpike because up to a couple days ago, people were saying it wasn't possible to use it 1v1. I have put in at least a good 40 hours figuring out how to use it at what ranges, how to time kicks with it, and generally act completely random so everybody is scared out of their minds to properly make an attack against me. You saying I'm using the best weapon for the patch, well thanks for proving everyone wrong I guess.

You guys don't follow rules then kick others for not following rules which you just said are not your own, why even make the server into a duel server and have rules when nobody plays by them. I don't see how you even got admin harn since you are seriously ****ed in the head.

If you want to follow rules ban test then since he isn't following any of them, and then again neither are you harn since you both are in the buttsex club.
