Duchess of Cambridge hoax call nurse found dead

That nurse was from India so maybe she was also prepared to dive into a raging fire if her husband died. One man's mental instability is another man's culture.

...
Pyre suicides are not that common among the Anglo-Indian population.
Never actually heard of one.

Until confirmation of the actual cause of death, let's not jump to suicide, shall we ?

Anyhow, ****ing Australians ...

Bleh, when I talked to aussies about humour they said that they found British comedians to be a lot more funny than aussie ones. The Kiwis have some good ones though.

And Australian radio is ****.

I prefer British humor too, but still  ^_^ I am just surprised how serious the issue of a light hearted prank call has become. I wonder if everyone had just put on a stiff upper lip, had a laugh and yarn about it rather than (what I presume happened: tear out the nurses throat (figuratively)) then all would have been fine.

I mean **** if the entire royal family committed suicide after Guido Hatzis pranked them then damn.

He's just harassing some low level flunky, and it's not even funny.

Once again Mage you point out anal details that have nothing to do with the point. Yes its some flunky but he's still alive as is everyone I assume involved in or around the call and whether or not its funny is beside the point, its a damn lot less light hearted than what the prank call to the hospital was like.

The point is, he didn't prank the royal family. He just called the palace and the person whose job it is to answer the phone did so. Then he just insulted that man. It has nothing to do with any of this. No one was tricked, no one killed themselves, and nothing having to do with the royal family was affected.

Yes, aren't we just terrible people.

You're not wrong about that though.

I quite like some of the local radio. I also think that the arseholes who did this should have been strapped to a high power radio transmitter as an apology to the family of the nurse.

Stop hijacking my point(s)
Yes he called the palace (home of the Royal Fam and left a message) bit more serious than calling a hospital that isn't affiliated with the RF. The fact that he hurled insults/abuse rather than badly impersonating the Queen to a Nurse is a bit more serious, and while he was pranking he still managed to trick the receiver into believing he was serious.  I've known investigations to be launched for less.

no one killed themselves,

No **** sherlock that's kinda the point.

and nothing having to do with the royal family was affected.

Neither was the RF affected by the prank call to the hospital. If anything it was the hospital that was affected since they're the ones who gave out the information.

The point is: the phone calls are trivial **** that don't warrant a suicide:

King Edward VII’s Hospital, where she worked, said it had not disciplined her, but rather had been “supporting her during this difficult time.” Nor, apparently, had the royal family raised a fuss with the hospital, an exclusive private institution that has long been the hospital of choice for Britain’s royals.

“At no point did the palace complain to the hospital about the incident,” a spokesman for St. James’s Palace said. “On the contrary, we offered our full and heartfelt support to the nurses involved and the hospital staff at all times.”

if anything the media blew it out of all proportion and probably had more to do with her suicide than the caller himself.

Yes, the people who made the prank call should be electrocuted. What a fitting punishment for a prank call.

Yeah, you all should go die in a fire. Fitting punishment for inflicting the plague known as "Foster's" upon the world. Though I 'spose you've got the right idea by not drinking it. Nah but seriously, I was joking. You guys can be alright, as long as you stop saying "Fair dinkum" and not explaining to me what it really means.

Has there been confirmation from the police that this was indeed suicide rather than heart attack, stroke, or something else ?

Look, I understand you're not too familiar with medical privacy laws, but in most Western countries you're supposed to obtain authorization from the patient before releasing ANY information, even to the family. I know for a fact that the UK has something similar. So no, it's not only the hospital that's affected when information is released. In fact, it's supposed to trigger automatic notification of the patient, and, depending on the severity of the incident, the authorities (this normally would not qualify). There can be substantial fines for these violations. yes, it is significantly more serious than insulting some random person over the phone. but it still doesn't explain what happened.

I understand the medical privacy laws but seriously what did this apparent leak tell us that we don't already know? They found out she was getting better. Hardly a major leak of confidential information in regards to a celebrity over whom the RF would have given a press statement anyhow.

It stands to reason that a prestigious hospital that services its royal clients for a pretty penny would stand to suffer a lot more over this embarrassing oversight in telephone protocol than the RF for having had a leak that the Duchess was on the mend. They've had far worse breaches of security in the past with at least one occasion of a journalists managing to acquire a job in the Palace and leaking photos out to the press.

So all in all not big deal for the RF. Had detailed documents been leaked other than she's fine and getting better I would see it a bit differently.

Yeah, i cant recall ever seeing someone drink Foster's. Few would dare to even contemplate such a foul deed.
