Dual Sais

Sergeant Knight at Arms
I made a sai model and added a sai item to the game using Yoshiboy's excellent tutorial. Then i used the same model for a shield item, making it look like you could actually dual-wield them. The only problem is that the animation of the shield arm doesn't really stick to the shield item, especially when doing vertical slashes.

Good:

Bad:

Any ideas?

I've tried rotating it and moving it back and forth. The same animation for a normal shield doesn't exactly look right either.

I think it's because the shield doesn't move with the wrist of the character. The glitch is generally better hidden by a shield than a sai, though.

I apologize for being a stick in the mud, but why the reverse grip? There is no sensible way to use sai - or most other things - reversed. Especially if serves a protective purpose (I suspect that thing is a "shield" in game terms), you do not want a reverse grip. Reverse grips have minimal protective value, and that hand is a particularly easy target. For anything bigger than daggers, the offensive capabilities are seriously reduced as well. Not to mention that a reverse grip critically reduces your range.

i agree that the deffence would go down with revers grip.
but offence would rise, but only in the stabbing department, would get better force in a stab like that. but the shield hand cant strike, so its a bit strange....butt cool-ish

There are several ways to grip a sai, and i think the reverse grip can be used for smacking people with the 'butt'. Though that wouldn't be very useful for defense, i have to agree. I mainly did it for the 'look' anyway .

Sai are blunt weapons, and are seldom used for thrusting like that.

This is a good thing I think.  In general terms I am against dual wielding (though I won't go into why since we have several other threads for that) however this is one of those few exceptions that would make sense to have dual wielding for.  Yes dual wielding for very specific dual wieldable items would make sense.
