Today at 3 am (not exactly three, I think it was almost four) a Guinness World Record of drumming for the longest time was achieved in my city by my music professor Carlos Santos, Portugal.
He started playing at 9th of November at 14:30 pm and only with a couple breaks from time to time, no sleep and with a lot of energetic food and drinks, he managed to play for 133 straight hours, all for a cause of equal parental rights. I'll tell you the story. He had a wife and a son, but then he got divorced from her. She then went to France and took their son with her and now he rarely sees his him. So because of that he decided to do this to catch people's attention about this matter and eventually be able to be with his son much more time.
Many people went to see and support him while he played. A lot of musicians played with him, some of wich are famous in my country, to raise his moral and help him reach his goal. This night there should be about 200 people watching, singing and claping hands. He would also speak sometimes to the public saying jokes and making everyone laugh
It was great to be there, I had an awesome time.
I believe that without his strenght and all the support he had he couldn't make it. And now he became my idol because if we really need something, we must fight for it even if we have to suffer.
Here's a picture of him right after finishing playing.
