Drugs: Prohibition, Decriminalization or Legalization?

Cocaine, heroin? I DO believe that it's a lot easier to take too much LSD than it is to drink the crazy amounts of alcohol it takes to make you OD on it. Same goes for popping pills, really.

Regarding cocaine and heroin, I'd agree with you. And well, with LSD you're so removed from reality after large amounts that the likelihood of something bad happening increases quite a lot, even if your body itself won't suffer from it too badly.

But with MDMA, if clean - which I'm assuming it is, as legally sold alcohol is - you'd need upwards of 1g of it to overdose, which is a huge quantity. I think I remember reading somewhere that you need about 16 times the standard dose to overdose - can't find the source though, so don't quote me on that

Exactly why I didn't mention MDMA - I don't know very much about it. DO seem to remember that people who did it and viagra had a tendency to die.

EDIT: If the wiki article is to be believed, MDMA has a fair few side-effects, like possible lingering depression and so forth. Whether that's worse than alcohol? Dunno.

I think its against the constitution to put someone in jail or to demand from them money for any personal choice that does not infringe on other peoples rights. Regardless of our personal views on 'drugs' the real issue is civil liberties and the right to lead a peaceful life. Because people do it, it needs to be legalized so it can be monitored, controlled and be SAFE for all those involved(no bath tub hooch)

Same thing with prostitution. The issue is not our personal views of if we support it or not. I personally would NEVER see a prostitute but i KNOW that CONSENTING ADULTS should have that right and because people will always choose to partake that to me it means we need to legalize it and control it for the safety of everyone involved.

The same arguments made against' drug addicts' can be made about people who are addicted to fastfood and are literally(and knowingly) poisioning their body. Its ****ed up but its their choice and their right to do so.

You want to get rid of drug dealers and drug related violence? LEGALIZE IT. MAKE A BUSINESS OUT OF IT , REGULATE IT AND TAKE MOTHER ****ERS TO COURT WHEN THEY STEAL YOUR ****!!!

Remember there are no such things as 'gay' rights or 'womens' rights there are simply INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS which cover all that wonderful stuff and apply to everyone all the time.

Edit: on the issue of harder drugs and overdosing.

There are many potential ways once legalized to ensure no one can overdose from the drugs they are purchasing. It could easily be a blend of a local pharmacy and 'dentist' type visit where you go under and are required to have someone on the property waiting to drive you home. Shoot up at the safe clean injection site with a legal dose administered by a health professional (ordered ahead of time) where all the related health information is monitored, recorded etc and sent off to your personal physician.

I'm pretty sure taxes aren't unconstitutional.
