Need More Info Dragon Banner Independence as an Existing King?

Summary: Currently I’m King of Vlandians and I can’t become an independent clan? I haven’t killed any of the other factions but I was voted into the Crown by the kingdom. Do I really need to forfeit my kingdom to start another kingdom?
How to Reproduce: Become king via voting after becoming a vassal. Then start the quest.
Have you used cheats and if so which: No cheats

I've run into the same issue. I was elected king of Aserai and now can't complete the banner quest because I'm not "independent" and I'm not a vassal so I can't give the banner to my king.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem in my game: I was elected king of the Battanians by the council while my quest for the Dragon Banner was already in progress (I already have the 3 pieces, but I was waiting to get new strongholds before taking my independence). I can't use the banner for my own profit...

Heyo,

so what was the solution to this Problem? I was elected as the King of Vlandia. Now I assembled the dragon banner.
I cant give the dragon banner to myself.
