WB was the sequel to the original mount and blade, after it was released mandb original stopped receiving updates is the same going to happen with fire and sword? only reason i ask is a friend of mine wants to start playing m&b and i dont want to tell him to get the wrong version of the game

On the BugTracker, the devs have been talking about another patch...so my assumption is there is at least one more patch in store for Warband.

I seem to recall an interview saying that they will continue to patch Warband, but I cannot find the quote back at the moment.

Besides that, isn't Fire & Sword developed by an external developer and not the core team?

WFaS is developed by a team in Ukraine they make their patches, (4 have been released, 5th on its way). Only the engine is the same, those patch versions are not compatible since they change different things.

Warband has been largely unsupported for some time now.

I can't recall when the last patch was.

Version 1.134 was released on 9 December 2010. So a week shy of 5 months ago.

The BugTracker Dev activity indicates a patch is underway. My guess is they are withholding it until WFaS is out...and my hope is that it won't be long after that until it is released.

Which was largely singleplayer changes.

Warband, multiplayer especially, hasn't seen very many patches or balance changes in quite some time.

Most of the numerous modding operations added in the 1.134 patch are completely applicable to multiplayer. It also included some collision-detection fixes that are applicable to both single and multiplayer.

Have there been bugs and/or balance changes necessary in multiplayer? Looking at the BugTracker, virtually everything mentioned is in regard to general engine/program stability issues or specifically single player bugs. In that way it isn't particularly surprising that the most recent patch(es) have responded to that.

To be sure, it was back in August that 1.130 was released, the last patch to include free multiplayer DLC in the form of new maps, etc, if that's what you're looking for...but the lack of multiplayer DLC to me doesn't equate to lack of support. But, I too would like to see a patch for the various bugs that linger...and 5 months does seem quite long enough.
