Does wiping out a faction make the other factions reluctant to ask for peace?

Just to clarify, I am a Nord vassal and we have wiped the Vaegirs out.
Now it seems no-one is willing to remain at peace with the Nords.
Pretty much from day 100 (about when I joined the Nords) to now (day 500) we have been at war with at least 2 but more often all the other factions.
Just recently over a period of a week they all asked for peace.
However within a day or so they were back declaring war again.
Was this a dirty ploy to get their imprisoned lords and troops out of our dungeons?
I must say I was starting to get sick of the constant war and had taken to imprisoning lords who I didnt have good relations with ie anyone who I had a relations of 10 or less with. This number was going to go up to 20 fairly soon as I thought if I hold all the enemies lords then there will be less opposition on the field.
I did have about 8 lords in prison and lost them all in that week, along with a good number of troops.

What annoys me the most is the constant raiding of villages.
It has made the descriptions of my cities Curaw and Khudan pretty bleak and depressing (and poor in the paying of tariffs and rents).
I have been able to discourage the bandits and deserters (from attacking caravans and farmers) with moderate to large patrols so it is just the enemy lords that I need to keep away.
If there is a fast enemy army (mainly Khergits) that I cant catch I trail a caravan and wait for the enemy to attack the caravan and then rush in to help.
I tried this with farmers too but they dont generally last long enough for me to get there in time.
I need to be far enough from the caravan so that the enemy isnt running from me and the caravan needs to be small enough to tempt the enemy into attacking.

What I need is peace with at least 1 faction.
Are there ways as a vassal to make this happen?

I am running Diplomacy 3.3.2 with Warband 1.142, and I have had an issue where boots and gloves no longer appear in the armourers shops.
This happened after I got captured and they stole my boots.
I think this is the same issue I have been reading about where people no longer see arrows and bolts for sale, so I will try out the fix from that post.

Well it seems Ragnar is a shrewder politician than i gave him credit for.
In the space of a a game week we have had peace with the all the remaining factions except the Sarranids.
As a result of this we have had peace with the other factions for a couple of game weeks now and have absolutely hammered any Sarranid that dares show his face in the Nord territories.
We havent taken the fight to them yet, I am thinking the Swadians or the khergits are going to get a Huscarl rush fairly soon.
We are simply rebuilding.
It has been good for me in rebuilding the prosperity of my cities so I hope peace lasts for a little bit longer.
My cash flow went from restricted to generous to netting about 15k denar a week.
It kind of helps that I have no sequestered enterprises and the cities have gone from very poor to rich.

War is a fickle thing for economies, that's for sure.  While you can raid the crap out of enemy villages and get a bunch of loot from defeating their forces, same can happen to your own holdings, badly killing your own incomes...as you've well seen it sounds like!

I used to always like killing off their caravans wherever I saw them, but then I realised that the caravans go to my own towns as well...

It so true about war being bad for the economy.
At the moment I am creating some fairly strong patrols to discourage raiders and bandits, also making them large enough to discourage the smaller lords armies from raiding as well.
When we go to war again I should be able to leave the cities and villages for a while to fend for themselves without taking too great a prosperity hit.
I am also using this period of peace to train troops so that I have a stockpile of quality troops in all my garrisons.
