does this game have rare/special weapons/armour yet?

It doesn't take much money to fully equip your hero with all the best gear money can buy, even early game you can be totally pimed out, even at low levels I think there was only one type of bow and one type of horse I couldn't use and the stats on those aren't weren't a major improvement anyway.

Does the loot get better as the campaign progresses? Can rare items be bought or looted later on?

As of e1.1.0 but since the beginning of Early Access, there seems to be a bug preventing all high tier armours from spawning in shops. You can loot them, or steal them off your wife, if she happens to be wearing these items.
I've read a developper's comment that adding them to shops would make the previous save-games incompatible, but since we can opt out of updates, I don't really understand the problem with that. All we can to do is wait until they fix it for shops or use mods.

I had the same issue, you fight lords that have incredible fancy shiny plate armor, all kinds of unique pieces but you cant buy or loot them. There also doesnt seem to be any special "unique" armor or weapons. Even my troops have fancy plate armor and helmets I cannot aquire in stores.

I didnt want to do it but I installed mods that allow you to execute nobles and take their gear as well as loot gear from fallen enemies.

IIRC you can buy them in stores once your clan tier is high enough. From what I remember it has to be T3+ at least or higher to start seeing the more rare and expensive items in stores.

Looting them just seems to be bugged outright.

This has been my experience too. Once I reached clan T3+, I started seeing rare and expensive items. +1 on looting as well.

• Higher tier armours are now produced in towns and can sometimes be found in the marketplace.

It was bugged, it was fixed 5 minutes ago in the Beta 1.2.0.

This has been my experience too. Once I reached clan T3+, I started seeing rare and expensive items. +1 on looting as well.

expensive yes, rare, no. By tier 3 you should be buying all that stuff easily anyway. I'm tier 4 and about 40hrs in with a small kingdom and there's nothing worth buying or looting anymore.

Hmmm, I may not be familiar enough with the rare items. On my 1.1 beta playthrough, I was finding tier 6 armor after I hit clan tier 3. Here were a couple examples: Eastern Vendel Helmet from a city apart of the Khuzait and the White Tabard Over Mail around Vlandian cities. Both are tier 6. The helmet was around 110K and the mail was over 60K I think.

thats about as high as it goes. You an buy those easily given how broken the economy is.
