Does sharpshooter ability help siege crossbow user?

Siege Crossbow has an accuracy rating of 99. Does that mean Sharpshooter Ability has no effect on player? In other words, can accuracy rating in Warband exceed 99? I notice that after I press down Shift, the crosshair of a siege crossbow isn't a perfect dot (my proficiency is 200+).

It isn't a directly added value but more of a boost to your accuracy as if your proficiency was higher.  So it helps in your case, but not enough to give a perfect accuracy.  That requires very high stats to do.

Are there any behind the scenes explanations of numbers and formulas I can dig into? I've noticed that ranged combat seems to be less effective in Silverstag (I don't know if that's actually true or not).
