Been in a 2 man que for some time now after downloading the Beta Branch. Does Mp work in Beta Branch?

I queued for an hour (I was doing work on the side) and I gave up. There is not any single server running. Why would they even release a multiplayer beta patch note and let us start the multiplayer client, I do not know.

Multiplayer is not even getting updates lads, iircs they said somewhere they don't focus on multiplayer right now but they never publicly announced it.

Oh damn, two parameters were changed and a few bug fixes, must have been the biggest MP patch since beta ended.

Sadly, yes it was. No need to get upset, I'm not calling you a liar. I was just pointing out that they listed updates in the patch notes.

Yeah i know, just missed it in the alpha branch since its not the "official" release you know. Most people are playing the regular branch.

It's in the beta branch. The thing that literally got a big ad for it on steam and on the TW website.

It seems obvious they are not focusing on multiplayer right now, I get that. But in my opinion they should, at the very least, release the mapmaker and modding tools so that the community takes care of it. In the state that it is in right now multiplayer will be dead in a short enough time and I don't think focusing on it then would make a lot of sense since it's not 2012 anymore, there is way too many other games to play, if a multiplayer games is not thriving right away it just dies off even if massively patched later since it just doesn't get any visibility from steam or influencers which drive 99% of traffic.

100k of people playing the single player. It's quarantine time, so most games are now thriving, at a peak traffic. And there is like barely 1k players on the MP right now and the queues are super long. It will be dead in a few weeks and I don't think there will be any way to revive then.

ye dude we're aware of that.
we've been asking for changes for months now. it's not on us

Here is what I'm guessing will happen :

Single player will die off (like all single player games do) after 2-3 months, their income will practically halt and they will have to sell at 75% off by next christmas. They will start realising that they do need the sale from the MP community, they will release a half assed "MP Centered" DLC for 20$ bucks that is basically a glorified fan mod and only then will we have community servers and modding support online.

That's a stretch, they have made enough money to stay afloat for years. They are still working on the singleplayer a lot i doubt this will change.

Singleplayer will be a success no doubting that, multiplayer not that confident

I'm not talking about "staying afloat". Which company in their right mind would be content with staying afloat?

The mods are the buying point of bannerlord, not native. Just wait and see how well mod support is and we can see how good it will be.

That's exactly the argument. They sold the game without the selling point. I have no doubt it will get better and the 25 players still playing will enjoy it a lot when we get mod support for multiplayer. But it will be too late to have an actual revigorated community. The average player is never going back to a game he had a terrible time with online, and right now, they all have a terrible time.

well warband sp did not die off after 2-3 months, so not all singleplayer games are like that, in fact i know more people that are still playing the sp than the mp of warband even today (some with mods, some playing native).

mods are already being developed, bigger mods take a lot of time, and most will not start production untill EA is over. the first mount and blade was the same, or do you think it had huge mods in the first 4 months after it got released? it was not to late to get the community back together and it is not for bannerlord. there are two kinds of players, those that enjoy singleplayer and those that enjoy multiplayer.

you are making a lot of assumptions about what the average player wants.

as someone who enjoyed the mass effect series and played all those games multiple times i can tell you now, the mp part is not needed to enjoy a game. in mass effect 3 they had mp, it sucked, i (and many others) still played the singleplayer multiple times, and that was a game with low replayability, warband had a huge replayability factor, i can already see the potential for bannerlord to have the same. just because you cannot enjoy games without a good mp it does not mean that no one can.

last but not least, i am having a great time with the captain mode. so again assuming that everyone has a bad time on mp is a huge mistake.
