Does "Disguise and sneak through the gate" work?

I was curious to see what happens if you manage to sneak inside a town. I was at war with the town's faction and my chance to sneak in was displayed at 19%. I figured with savescumming that shouldn't be too bad. I tried for 15 minutes and wasn't successful. Does anyone know if it works and perhaps just the percent chance display is wrong?

It depends on your Rogue skills, the higher the skill the higher the chance you can pull off sneaking into enemy towns.

Yep, it's possible. Currently there's not much to do afterwards, but I'm sure it's a work in progress.

The reason you may not have been able to sneak in after save/loading is because there's some sort of seed that gets saved, causing you to get the same results for certain RNG dependant things every time you reload. This happens for autocalc, and probably for sneak chances too.

BUT, it's not perfect and there's a way around this. If you overwrite your save immediately after reloading it will change your RNG from that point onward. Just overwrite your save again and again to get different results on each reload.

Look at it again: there is a chance it was -19% not 19%.

That **** happened to me on a 109% chance to sneak in, so I got mad as **** and savescummed like four times, no dice. I was so pissed. I had Clearly Mad AF bug report typed up to post on the forum and everything. Then I realized it was a negative number.

-109% chance. How does that even work? Just get yeeted into the dungeon for thinking about sneaking in? Did they come into my tent the moment I get the disguise on and haul me through the gates in chains?

The percentage numbers seem off with this.

I tested with around 25% chance. It took somewhere around 20 tries until I was able to get in.

I think it might be similar to Warband in that the larger the army with you, the harder it is to get in. I have had chances upwards of 50-60% when sneaking in on my own with an okay Rogue level.

I doesn't work. Not logically or mathematically. The chance of something occurring cannot be less than zero.

There is something wrong with how the success chance is being calculated. I had a conversation with an 85% chance of a successful outcome. My actual chance of success was actually zero. To be honest my chance of success for any speech check seems to always be zero as I have never passed a single one.

?‍♂️

-109% means you want to sneak into the town, but you're so horrible at it the guards can see you coming a mile off and tell what you're doing. You're trying to 'sneak' across an open space in broad daylight or you're so loud at night they get a noise complaint from someone inside the walls. Or maybe you're carrying a torch during your night infiltration so you can see where you're putting your feet.

Basically, you're absolutely hilarious at 'stealth' and the guards are chuckling all the way out to get you, while they are dragging you to the dungeon, when they tell the next shift about you, and when they recount the incident at the local tavern.

On a more serious note, negative chances can make design sense if there are sufficient positive modifiers available as well. It could be a way to keep characters from the equally silly situation of having over 100% chance of success. But it sounds broken or incomplete.

It's broken and not fun.

In warband when you failed you could try to fight and escape... In bannerlord it's only success or prison...
