Does anybody else enjoy the new bandit hideouts? Excluding not choosing your troops.

I really like them. They feel like much more of a challenge than the ones from warband. The only thing I have an issue with, except from choosing troops which im 99% sure they're going to add eventually, is confronting the bandit boss. It's supposed to be an ambush, and the entire time I'm not confronting any of them. I bait them into fighting my infantry while my archers are up in the hills picking them off. I fight as dirty as I can and use cunning to take them out. Now all of a sudden I strut up to the boss like an *******? My character would shoot an arrow into his face before he took 2 steps.

Still, I hope they don't change it too much.

The bandit lairs are cancer. I got the mod that allows you to take your whole army into the lair til taleworlds balances them better.

i use that mod plus a mod that triples bandit sizes. some of these bandit lairs can have up to 90 bandits.

I struggled with this yesterday the whole damn day. I now know how to beat them. If you want I can post a vid.

I think they are doable with varying degrees of frustration, I have several issues though:
- No reinforcements although you are up against many troops of varying tiers including a possible end fight against 5 enemies.
- The boss fight itself. Either your leftover troops against five T3+ troops. Or a 1 vs1 situation. Either way you are at a disadvantage since, you might have the wrong weapon equipped and have no time to prepare or give orders.
- The reward: You get basically only what you would have gotten when fighting all the different raider groups and nothing extra, which seems to be one item per kill, from a limited pool of options (like I have yet to receive a bow from any form of steppe raider or a T2 arrows). In the pool are also goods, mostly food items. I have not really seen manufactured goods, as I suppose, this would involve raiding caravans. The hideout itself seems to have no or only very little loot itself.
- Little gold. Again just the stuff mostly you would have gotten from killing the raiders anyway, which can vary greatly.
- No freed prisoners (which, in any case do not seem to bring anything anyway).
.
I happened to come across a hideout with only the boss and his four guys in it. No quest for it around. I was alone, so I entered did the duel, won with 10% HP remaining and received one item, which was a low tier harness, worth 250 quid, received additional 16 gold. The boss as prisoner worth 300ish gold. His bodyguard though were thrown out (although they should have been prisoners as well). Since I was wounded my speed was low and a random band of looters caught me and took me. Even then I would have made 550 quid for quite some hassle.
Now a full hideout of 25+ guys would have gotten 3-6 of my guys killed, depending on luck, which could very well be 3 lancers or heavy lancers, meaning three warhorses lost (600+ each) three steppe horse (150+ each) and around 500 gold upgrade cost total. So we are looking at 2700 gold cost. For that I receive 25 items from a pool of items, 7 prisoners worth 800 max, I daresay. So, even if I only lose low or mid-tier infantry and still win, I daresay I would only make a marginal profit or make a loss of money and/or time spent.
It is the hardest encounter you can have for people that want to play neutral, which I like, but the pay-off is miniscule. It is simply not an economic use of my time for the fun I have.
