does AI take too long setting up a seige?

seems like they take a long time to setup a siege and they often never complete it and abandon it to go do something else.  plus they're always distracted by the smallest of armies abandoning everything to chase them down for 10 seconds, then give up and comeback and start the whole thing all over again.

anyone know how to txt tweak to make them set up seiges quicker? or is it because they lack a high engineer skill? between the slow seige and AI getting distracted so easily, it's too hard to get in on a seige.  the only time it goes the way it should is if i go at it by myself.

Yes, that is probably one of the worst aspects about this game. I'm sorry, it don't work.

Lets all hope it gets better with warband... : /

And by the way, its much more effective to take the castles on your own. Bring only top tier soldiers and you should be fine if you have around 80-100 men and there are no big lord in the castle ; )

And pack up on surgery too ; )

I think it is because the AI Lords and Kings do not really focus on their engineering skill at all.

If you enable edit mode (its in the launcher) and go to your character you can press "Next" and "Previous" and see all the different characters in the game and all their stats.

And no, I guess the AI lords don't focus much on engineering, but that's not really the problem.

The problem is that they leave : P

I've sometimes noticed that even though we outnumber the enemy by a lot, the one leading the siege wait until all enemy lords have exited the castle. When the castle is empty, the one leading the siege starts the assault.

there needs to be an adjustment of tolerance level where AI lords get distracted during a siege.  they should not leave while setting up their siege unless they are under great threat.  also, it would be nice to see all AI lords start with higher level of engineering skills so that they set up their seiges quicker and avoid the endless cycle of leaving seiges, coming back, leaving, etc.

it especially sucks when you plan on seiging a castle, but your ally AI lord beats you to it, but he takes forever and ever setting up, only to get distracted and leaves, making it impossible for me to set up my own seige unless i wait a long long time for everything to clear up for a new seige.  the wait time inbetween seiges is too long, especially if the AI starts it but quickly leaves to do something else.
