Do you like the idea of 'respawning' in Warband?

If you die in warband, should you respawn, or be out of that game, and have to wait for the next one

The thing is, no respawn mode would only work in deathmatch or team deathmatch modes. It doesn't work very well in siege type scenarios or capture the flag or in other gametypes that have objectives because people just focus on killing the other players and they don't care about the objectives. If there are respawns, then people have to complete the objectives because they can't win the match by just killing enemy players.

I'm not certain, but I think he means a Ticket system similar to the Battlefield Series. Essentially, each team has a certain number of tickets, and each respawn costs one ticket. On deathmatch games they're equal totals, bu on say, defense games the attacker has a larger ticket cluster than the defenders ect.

My view would be this coupled with the idea of having set time gaps between reinforcement waves would be optimal for Sieges etc, but I still prefer the Host Modifiable approach. :smile:
 
Hm.. I like that idea.

So lets say, the Attackers in a siege have 200 respawns, and defenders 100? Sounds like Star Wars Battlefront to me :???:
 
starwars battlefront is funny. its a good idea but eventually its all up to the hosts of the servers. private servers anyone?

i do hope that they lisen to our command as feedback.
 
I don't mind the idea of when you death you are out!
however We should have other flexibility too

we should have something like...

Free for all : everyone for them self respawning after a delay like 10-15 sec (also will be very nice if it selectable) Game end when one player reach certain number of score 30 kill for instance

Team battle : Like Free for all but with team instead also with set able respawning style Wave or Delay

 
I would like a "ticket-system" like battlefield. So a Team has (for example) 50 tickets or lives and when someone dies, the team looses a ticket. This would play out exactly like now in M&B where reinforcements can spawn.

If everyone only has one live, we would see most teams consisting of (horse)archer-only armys
 
I think it should be you respawn in waves with your amigos every number of minutes, depending on what the admin wants.
 
I agree with either making it optional or having a limited respawn pool for each team. The problem with one-life-per-match systems is that they make the learning curve shoot up. I've played the Jedi Academy mod MovieBattles II, in five-minute matches where you only had one life (unless you had a certain class, and purchased a certain skill, which would bring you up to two or three lives but you'd be comparatively weaker). I was never any good, because I barely got to play. I'd spawn at the beginning, kill one guy if I was lucky, die, and spend the rest of the match as a spectator. Not fun.
 
I think you should die, and then respawn when the next set of reinforcements comes in (although i think reinforcements would not be necessary as i can't imagine the battles being so large due to lagg. It will be difficult to synchonise so many AI controlled enemies between 20+ people, so the battles will mainly consist of just human players, or a small amount of human players with bots.

I think when you die, you should have the option for free use of the camera, or the option to look from the point of view of allies/enemies alike. Kind of like you can on games like Counter Strike source (a feature i kind of take for granted. If warband was not to have this feature i would get very restless when dead)
 
I would like to see some sort of flag in which players can carry and when set down, people can spawn from. The enemy could steal or destroy such flags too.
 
How about, everyone can choose certain classes, but some classes will use up more 'tickets' than others. So, you can go around using an expensive knight class that costs 5 tickets, or be a peasent class which costs 1.
 
Guys, you are all thinking FPS here.  I feel embarrassed to remind you that M&B is a totally new game.  You will not be able to solo.  You will not be able to kill all enemies with headshots.  You will not be able to kill a horde of enemies by running backwards whilst swingiong your wepon.  Unless it is a one on one, you wil have to work as a team.  Think game paly vs AI, but against guuys as smart as you.  War Band will ber a totally different game than whart you've experienced before,

M&B will be a FPS with bows and swords and horses. Not much different from CoD W@W

Bows = guns
Swords = Bayonets/knifes
Horses = Tanks(Well weak ones anyways)

M&B is a game like the Battlefield or Call of Duty series where teamwork is important, you can go solo (if you have a horse) but you are way better if you team up with others (just like the clans in any FPS).

(thats why I think the deathmatch mode will be stupid, this game needs objective based TEAM modes)
 
Respawning is a silly game-ism that has overtaken gameplay mechanics in place of making more immersive gameplay that supports more realistic play styles.
