Do you like playing with a taller or shorter character right now?

I noticed when playing that one advantage shorter characters had is that large shields could cover a greater percentage of their body. It was also easier to reach down from the top of a horse with a short person, whereas a taller person needed a much longer polearm. A smaller hit box is especially good against archers.

Taller characters overall do seem to have a bit more reach on foot though. Due to angular velocity, can they deal more damage?

There seems to have been a series of threads a while ago about it.

Do taller people have any other advantage (ex: run faster at a given athletics score?)

That is very interesting. Never thought about it that way. Just picked the largest mofo in the room because I thought it looked good.

I used to always make the smallest because it's funny. But then I tried a tallest and it's much easier to hit people, see how people are moving/attacking and you can shoot further a little easier and land head shots easier. Tallest is way better IMO and I've even wondered if the Dev designing combat was using only a tallest model because that would explain so many :poop:y weapon loadouts, which all preform somewhat better with a tall char IMO. Particularly hitting with standard 90-100 length sword from horse back feels okay on a tallest char but I always felt it was inexcusably useless on my smallest chars.

Extended character height levels & their effects to specific areas = More costumization & more fun.. I hope its developing this way, and i ll try & like it if its available rn.

I'm almost positive that greater character height means greater reach so if you're playing a primarily melee on foot height does give a small advantage at the disadvantage of a bigger hit box. Playing as a taller character I have to aim down just a bit especially in uneven terrain because I will find myself whiffing over people's heads especially shorter npcs.

I always play shorter characters and I still whiff all the time. When you're on horseback, I don't think height makes that much difference to your reach, at least when reaching for someone on the ground. Your arms are longer, but your shoulder's also higher, so in the end your hand would be in about the same place as a shorter character's. I think maybe the height of the guy you're trying to hit might be the bigger factor since that can vary quite a bit.

Height probably helps a bit in hitting other horsemen though. I find it very hard to reach other horsemen even when they're right next to me.

I always play a default height character, lol. I never thought about adjusting it... but after reading this thread, I think now I'll need to try some taller and shorter characters.

But we need dwarfs and giants within height range. Movement speed, attack speed, hit&block points, damage should affected with that height range. + (Mastery system is next further thing that can fit the ideas above.. Individual customization is a golden key)

I'm not talking about on horseback I'm talking about on foot.

Hmm ... I'm wondering if the long arms help though.

For taking on other cavalry, you will also want to get a really long other weapon. The advantage if you could smith a slightly shorter weapon is that you can swing a bit faster with the weapon for a given reach with longer arms.

i find being tall has huge advantage fighting on foot, you can deliver easy headshots above shields

I do make my character tall and I tend to go for head shots in the arena. I don't fight on foot in battles as I am not a barbarian or a peasant.

Playing with a tall character makes me feel like I'm using Mafia standover tactics over every NPC I meet in a town or village - every bit of dialogue sounds vaguely like a threat when you're standing that close and towering over them.

yeah that's precisely where i noticed the difference, most of my characters are tall and i murk with headshots in arena. one time i made a shorty and he couldn't hit anybody's face.
