I was wondering, why people jump in "M&B", if they ever do it? I usually forget about the existence of the jump key and I never found any situation where jumping were actually needed or useful. NPCs never jump neither, I never saw it at least.

Im not against the jump key, of course. I think we should have the ability to jump, even if its useless.

So, do you jump?

EDIT: If you anwser yes, please explain why and when you jump.

On horseback, yes. Over small streams, impediments like rocks and bushes, and sometimes enemies if I have a good position (ie above them)

On foot, not much. My main character wears plate armor, which seems to put a damper on displays of agility, but I'd try sometimes, perhaps to hit a fast-moving rider or something.

I use jump often when mounted and being pursued as I can jump over rocks and rivers or up small hills. That way the people chasing me are slowing down and I can turn around and stick a lance in their face.

While on foot, jumping is good as it allows what would be headshots to just hit you in the body or if you jump before the enemy shoots you'll land and the projectile will sail clear over you.

Jumping is quite useful indeed.

I try not to jump since it looks silly and kind of breaks the immersion. I'll do it if I need to get over a stream quickly, but nowhere else.

Jumping is good when on foot vesus a mounted enemy, to hit them and avoid being bashed by the horse. I use that in the arena a lot.
Also when playing a mounted archer it is useful to get shots on an enemy when there are your own units chasing them in the way.
You can jumps the streams as above, and also you can jump into the middle of a stream witha horse and hit with crouched lance before you land! That is very cool.
It is often necessary to jump when on horseback fighting with melee weapons to avoid stopping your charging mounted troops in the middle of the enemys foot soldiers, as you often lose them if that happens.

It can work quite well if you jump down a small hill and slash someone before you land. You get a huge speed bonus, but it is rather hard to do since they usually block. But aside from that, the only time i jump is when i'm mounted in situations already previously stated.

Ah, I did forget something. When you are using a projectile weapon, jumping doesn't affect your aim so, it is useful to shoot a particular person who is in the middle of a group or behind a hill and you wouldn't have to move .

I have never been a bow or anything (just feels like cheating) so I don't know exactly how often you could use this but, every little bit helps I guess.

I jump alot. I use it for all sorts of tactical situations. If there are many enemies following on horseback, I'll merely ride at full speed towards a rock, jump it and watch them run into it, then swing around behind them and chop them up. On foot, I jump over mounted enemy weapons and horses to avoid getting hit.

Amazing. So jump can be usefull after all. Although many of this uses seens like exploits to me. But some are actually cool and I will try it (specially, I will try to get a couched lance hit in someone at the middle of a river, that sounded really cool).

So far Ive only used jump to walk over tables at inns (on the few inns which have tables) and to get on the roof of the stables in Zendar. If "M&B" had some indoor battles, I guess jump could be a lot more usefull, for jumping over chairs and other objects.

I think, it looks great when you jump being on foot and cut someones neck with 2-handed sword, or against cavalry you can always reach their head whith short weapon when jumping.

I jump to try an avoid ranged weapons jump rivers and to try and avoid mounted units or couched lances.
