Do I have to restart my computer after downloading a game?

I just recovered from a major error, which stuck with me for at least 2-3 months. I can now play games, but I had to download the latest version of Warband to fix a bug and play diplomacy I am afraid that it will come back after I restart.

To the point, do you HAVE to restart the computer after downloading a game?

Not really. It's just considered good practice to restart after installing some programs. Most don't need it really, though.

A lot of things do. Like graphics drivers and the like.

Not for games, though.

Thanks, I had an error that seemed to taint or fry the graphics card. I could not play games or anything. It had 5 cyan stripes made up of 7 smaller stripes... kind of scared for that to come back.
