Do engineer companions work?

Question in titel.
Do engineer companions with the engineer clan role contribute to your sieges?
If not is there a mod that fixes that?

They do. Somewhat... At least when your siege weapons fire they do get EXP, but all the other time during the sieges the Engineer EXP is granted to your character (At least it's the only one who's name appears in log).

I might be incorrect and it might be placebo effect, but I think I have noticed that building up the siege weapons with good engineer in party goes faster than without him.

The siege camp does get built faster with a good siege engineer. Siege equipment take so long to build it's hard to say how much the engineer helps. I had an engineer with 200 skill (made him myself) and building siege equipment was still painfully slow. He did a right fine job on the camp though.

Your engineer companion definitely contributes, however it needs to be more noticeable in in my opinion.

I imagine this will be covered in the next few updates, as they have stated that they intend to address how companions work. We know they will be able to lead their own formations soon and hopefully they will be introducing other roles for them and fix how they roles work.
