Do emissaries work in your game?

I left a bitterdraught since about 70 days in a city, no relation increase, he didn't get even a single xp on his Charm.
I expect more from a wanderer with charm 80.

They do work in my game, not very common but I want to say that the relationship increase activates at least like once every 5-10 days? Character has about 50 ish charm and is sitting on a fairly active border town with lots of lords and armies coming through.

Also governors in towns seem to work as emissaries as well, though I'm not entirely sure if this is intended or what sort of interaction is going on.

The biggest issue though is that you only get the message in your history saying "X has gained Y points in charm" and that big banner saying "relationship with X increased" but since there's a metric ****ton of skills that randomly increase relations for doing random stuff with literally everyone it is really hard to tell when it was something you did vs something an emissary did, and it is also really easy to miss the charm gain message for companions in your history as well.

I can vouch for it working, though I have no idea if it is working with their intended frequency or whatever. It's just a pain to keep track of all the stuff going on.

Excuse my ignorance, what do emissaries do?
Any clan membre left in town can give you a chance to gain relation with random notable or owner clan.
It got nerfed recently though.
EDIT
Nvm it was nerf in 1.6.0... time flies...
Here the quote from the patch notes

  • Success chance for gaining relation via emissaries has been reduced by half.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the player to gain relations with the same notable twice in a row via emissaries.

Thanks, but what's an emissary?
I don't think I've seen any in game!

If you leave a clan member in town they become an "emissary", it is just a title people are using for these nobles left in town, not like an official title in game or anything (no indication ingame they become an emissary when left in town).

You are talking about Companions waiting in towns, not governors, right?
Do they actually serve a purpose or acquire a role?

Companions or family members, I believe it still works if they are assigned as governor.

They do not acquire a role. They do serve the purpose of periodically increasing relations with Notables in that town. It will also train the charm of the companion/family member when they get the relation increase. So if you have a town that you want to be able to unlock more recruit slots without doing quests for those notables, just leave a companion/family member in town. That's it you don't have to do anything else.

Great thanks.

I think we should be able to send them to towns as emissaries through companion dialogue. Like, go to X town and raise relations with the notables there
