I advance closer to the tent, cautiously, with my guard up. How far away is it?

Still covering, moving north one step and looking east though. Also, ready action to attack any goblins in sight.

I advance closer to the tent, cautiously, with my guard up. How far away is it?

About a hundred feet, at the start of your turn.  How fast are you going to move?

 

[The Mercenary]

40 feet.

 

[Gculk]

Right.  You move 40 feet up, then you see a spear come rolling out from behind the tent, then a small buckler.  The small speargoblin then comes out with his hands above his head, shaking visibly.

 

[The Mercenary]

"Where are your three large companions?!"

In goblin, of course.

 

[Gculk]

He's too scared to speak loudly.  You can't make out his reply.

 

[The Mercenary]

"Calm down. It's okay. Come closer."

 

[Gculk]

He doesn't move.

 

[The Mercenary]

I sigh. I advance another 30 feet, signaling for Lans and Edrein to raise their bows and Edrein not to advance further.

Note my shield is up.

 

[Gculk]

Alright, you're about 45 feet from the goblin, and he backs away a bit, about 5 feet, still scared.

 

[The Mercenary]

I signal for Lans, Slul, and Edrein to join me, with several feet in between each of us and none of us lined up.
