Anyone who's ever plaied Oregon Trail knows that not too long ago, diseases such as scurvy were a big problem. If party members were randomly stricken with illness from time to time the game may be a smidgen more emersive. perhapse the best way to demonstrate the poor medecine of the Mount & Blade setting would be to have severely wounded men amputate a limb after battle (do to gaingreen and other such complications). I don't know but the idea of a party member hobbleing around on a peg leg during a battle w/ a couple arrows lodged in it just makes me laugh.

Some one posted earlier about a possible "hardcore" game setting where loosing a battle results in the death of your charactor and deletion of the save file. I think the amputation thing would work well with such a game style because you would get one second chance if you some how run into bad luck, however, that would probably defeat the perpose of a "hardcore" mode.

NOTE: this suggestion has nothing to do with chopping peoples limbs off in battle. Amputation should occure after a battle.

I don't think it'd be more immersive, it'd be ridiculous and annoying. Men that injured obviously wouldn't take part in battles at all, and once the humour faded (which wouldn't take long) it'd be an annoyance.

Well i agree. Diseases certainly would play a good part in this.

I mean what would be strange with that? It exists in most other C-RPG/RPG:s. Be it NWN or Morrowind, whatever.

So add my vote to diseases. Then finally there would be some additional uses for classes like Priests/Alchemists etc.

Well, I'm for Diseases, but not for affecting players, but for events where you will be hired to deliver supplies to help them... or deliver big barrels of tar in case they cannot be helped, heh.

Well, though I like super detailed niche rpgs that track every broken bone and disease I dont think it works with this game. I mean I support general traumatic wound tags like "broken ribs" or whatnot from battle but too much detail like disease or amputation doesnt suit the lightness of this game.

Heres a finnish RPG that simulates every broken bone and disease. Very primitive graphics but loads of fun and detail. Its got a try before you buy model like Mount and Blade.

O.K. may be amputation is a little much. I was just trying to give an example of how diseases and poor medicine might affect people in the game.

As far as "super detailed niche RPGs" go... I got the idea from Oregon Trail. I mentioned it because i thought it would be something simple to impliment (aside from the amputation suggestion) and it wouldn't drastically change the game. I'd rather post ideas for minor details than things like "this game needs multiplayer and trebuchets so people can storm castles".

I'm sorry about going on a rant. I've just had a long week and I feel like ranting.

maybe there should be quaranteen option for a city that suffers from epedemic....
also hospitals in towns...

To make the disease thing more interesting cities could be infested with the Black Plague for a while and if you have a good healing skill you could try to cure the residents and if you do your reputation with that city is raised.

EDIT:
By the way Noxanima nice "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King" avatar

Wink wink, nudge nudge?

And maybe some random needs of a CITY GUILD MASTEr (not those damn lords) to heal some city members, if you fail the town hates you, if you suceede, town loves you, if you don't act, town doesn't care

Yes, because we do not understand the words you type unless you ALL CAPS (not type in that damned uncapitalized font) them.

I think that logic is a bit wonky. They shouldn't hate you because at least you tried. Showing indifference should be looked down upon instead.

I use caps to accentuate a phrase. Kinda like how comics will bolden and darken words that hold more meaning in a statement then others. Old habit from good ol' AOL 1.0 days. At that, it was one part of a statement, so it wasn't all caps, just an accentuating use.

and, I doubt the citizens would care, but if you are nobility AND you yourself are trying to do it, they might see you as a big headed "I can do everything!!11!!1!!one+shift!!" shouting noble swine!

Underline for accentuation, capitalization for shouting.

I Cap accentuate, deal. And please, do keep on topic. This is on disease, not my style of writing as brought on by the fact my uncle Allen I grew up around did comics for a local comic shop back when I lived in NC.

Offtopic should be an epically deadly disease. And only Armagan spray can kill it!

But since this is 3 years old, kinda late to ask if the OP also meant a kind of oregon trail style illness happening.

Obviously, yes. Random ailments to cause soldiers to be knocked out while marching.

Nord Huscarl gets dysentery and is suddenly knocked unconscious for a day while he gets better enough to be in fighting form. Relatively simple, but a huge annoyance. Scurvy takes place over weeks, however, so it most likely wouldnt be in m&b. Most probably causes would be exhaustion, a horse getting spooked by something and knocking someone out with a kick, etc.

Marnid isn't that bad.
Actually Marnid and Jeremus kick some serious ass. I gave Jeremus a Metal staff and 3 large bags of javelins and he racks up AT LEAST 12 kills a battle.
