You have died, what gives you the right to magically have your things back? If the other player made a mistake he will be punished and this should be the end of the story. A vague refund opportunity will leave room for mistake, misinterpretation and enrichment of the more smart players. Without the refunds the players will become more vigilant and cautious. And the administrator chat will be possibly less attacked with "refunds" spam messages.
PROTIP: If a randomer kills someone, well, randomly the killed should be refunded and the randomer kicked. Bam, then you wouldn't be magically conjuring more money, the money that was taken has now been removed from the server his money bag possibly taken by an admin. In my opinion the refunds are there to reset the moments the randomer killed them. If you stepped into a PW server, walked outside the spawn and got roflstomped by a player, you'd do one of two things.
1. RQ the Server
2. Ask an admin for a refund because you were defeated without previous roleplay.
The refunds should be used as if it was turning back the clock for the killed player.

I have led a faction many times in PW and I agree that before I do what what I want to do in PW, the rules are something that forces linearity on my RP.

I think the proposed new rule set would benefit the server.Although i see fault i the setup elsewhere the administration seems to rely too much on the honesty of the players lets think about it:if i were to be randomed bye 5 people (random number there) and they say i was the one rule breaking as in kicking them or or attacking them first the admin would be inclined to listen to the 5. Maybe for the sake of argument i was the outlaw and robbed 2 defenseless serfs who then ran and i was forced to kill if they complained to the admins that i randomed them i would almost certainly be kicked to banned.

In short unless there is a way to track every movement or word someone types the outcome is that the quality of your game play experience depends on how honest and rule following the people who play with are. There could be one thousand rules yet if no one is looking and it is broken it is word versus word.I am not saying throw all the rules out of the window but i am saying is the mod meant to be a fun playing experience or a realistic experience (as it is hard to have both),i doubt a outlaw from the Dark Ages would stop to talk to you before he attacked you instead of just shooting you in the head and be done with it.Then again a bunch of outlaws ambushing all passer buys would certainly ruin the game.

I think if the server is to be successful it does not need more rules it needs more admins or at least some sort of log an admin can go in select said players name and see all interaction or chat.(at the same time a rule for the admins not to abuse privacy would need to be enacted if such a thing is made)

Well that is my take on it and please note i am not trying to be disrespectful or harsh in anyway.

Nearly all admins, including myself investigate randoms first before taking an action. If try to rob them, and they run and you kill them followed by them crying random, take a screenshot of your dialogue towards them. Most of the East admins would ask for a screenshot if they don't have access to the server logs (Like me. Odard. Cough.) Anyways, we have ways to tell if a player is being honest or not.

And I've already responded to this point before, but I WILL NOT change my game play style to prevent RULE BREAKERS from killing me. Why would I go out of MY way to make it so it's harder for someone to randomly approach me and kill me or kill me right after they died? That's absurd and no one should play PW in fear of being killed by a RDM'r because the server rules state it is illegal.

You have already changed it. When you adapted your play style to the server rules.

Edit: bellow

I agree. This may not be your point, but: the administrators need to treat their PW server as if it was an native server. Most native servers won't have a "don't attack your team members" rule written on the welcome message, but an administrator may ban you if you start to attack your team members. You don't need a set of complex rules or any rules at all, what you need is a good administrator team to deal with players who are simply trying to ruin the game.

Now, it would be a different story if the person was spamming admin chat the entire time I was trying to resolve the case. And this has happened many times before, I have refused to help people because they either dis-respect me or spam admin chat.
...

Austro 说:
haha, are you kidding me? I'm not wasting my time on a player who doesn't show even an ounce of respect for admins, and rather blatantly dis-respects them.

You deserve no respect for that attitude. Respect is earned, not demanded. Quit acting like you deserve something from the community or the rest of the East admins.

Besides, I find it absolutely hilarious that you are unwilling to adapt your playstyle to a new set of rules, then go on to complain that you get killed because of it. What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing and expecting different results?

Let's put it bluntly;

Adapt or die.

Starting to shift towards what I was not wanting to happen...

I will have a decision tonight, I will keep watching for any last minute input, but I do beleive I know what I will be choosing here.

I was hoping it would be, yes. This debate is for the good of the community itself, arguing and calling people names is really counter productive and doesn't help anything get resolved.

I see what you are saying, well anyway i hope you come to the best conclusion.

P.S. I'm done with this debate I've said what I needed to say im not going to make a super conclusion because I've said enough, it's up to Odard.

Pilgrim has good grammar and sentence structure. He's probably typing this on a smart phone. Is that all you can say about him?

I suppose I could see this rule set working. The map would need to have absolutely no start stock on it, though. I'd also like to see 2 handed weapons be rare. Else you will have naked 2-handers running around at war with each all day just killing like it was a native server. Which in no way would contribute to roleplaying.

Other than that, I think this could turn out well. It'd flush out all the people who whine nonstop in admin chat because they spend all day by themselves making money and then get robbed once. I don't understand the point of wanting to be in full plate all the time, either. I don't mind people who do it, but when they whine once they lose it, it's stupid.

I care more for the community than my own personally gain. So as long as the people are happy with this, I'm all for it.

Pilgrim - I am out of work midnight Eastern time. I will be home and making the final post about my decision around 1AM EST.

Everyone has until that time to get their opinions voiced and vote in the polls.

It has been a very informative discussion from alot of veteran and newer players alike, this will be a tough one to say the least...

I actually don't know what to vote for because I'm willing to experiment with all rules laid on except for the refund rule
