[DISCUSSION] Fan Suggestion Thread

I think Alyssa should be fielding Snake Cult troops as her special troops when she is made into a Lord. Thoughts? I always thought that some of the companions with a background (good or bad) pertaining to the minor factions should field those troops as their specials.  Another would be Kaverra and the Vanskerry. There are probably more. I do know Diev fields Mystmountain Raiders and Bearclaw Berserkers, so I figured other minor factions should be included too if a certain companion had backgrounds with them.

Would be pretty cool if the player could be allowed to make a kingdom with a foreign culture, like Barclay or Mettenheim. Local troops (let us call them Colonial troops) could be tunned down version of the mercenaries, as some sort of local auxilia, either inspired by their training methods and equipment, or designed around to cover their flaws (like Mettenheim Colonial Horseman, to cover Mettenheim's lack of cavalry). The mercenaries could substitute the nobles.

I just believe it would be nice if the player could bring something new to the table other than the Pendorian culture (which is great, of course, but I would just appreciate more options).

This would be a great idea imo. Even going by lore standards, the whole "mysterious letter", could rp a full on barclay backed invasion to reclaim the throne. I did for laughs do a Noldor player kingdom with some heavy morgh's modifying and the cheat menu. Was fun for an hour or so till i realized noldor in mass quantities just ruin the game. So i dont recomend a Noldor culture option, but mettenheim/barclay/veccavia could prove pretty interesting.

Barclay would be borderline game-breaking... Heavy footmen, sappers, lancers and conquistadors?

I would love more depth to the minor factions, and refer back to my earlier idea idea of giving them Camps. Sort of like their own Elacrai. Make the locations unlockable via rumors from travelers in taverns. If you purchase the maps, you are entrusted with the location of their encampments and are allowed entry. There you have the option of buying their gear and hiring mercenaries.

It would make the map more alive, and make these minor factions more fleshed out. Currently, much of your interaction with them is very 'abstract' and distant. You ask for a rumor and you sometimes get an opportunity. You click the text option and then they're in your party. If you actually have relations with them/have to travel to their base of operations. Perhaps these camps are only accessible if you have a certain companion in your party:

Veccavi - Boadice
Mettenheim - Frederick
Barclay - Donovan

It could add more story too with the initial conversations. Frederick is overjoyed to meet a new Mettenheim expedition. Boadice meets Veccavi troops who she initially fears are loyal to her sister, but are actually defectors. Dovan meets former peers in his days in his Barclay army.

This would be an opportunity to give Persuasion a chance to be more relevant too. The commanders of the minor factions will only requisition their troops to you if you can convince them. Make the Barclay commander for example standoffish: "Why would I assign valuable soldiers to you, [player]?"

Then the player, similar to Heartbeat Quests, can choose between a few dialogue options. "To deal with a grave threat." or "To give them a chance to adventure and make a name for themselves." Thinking of how other mods have extra skills to deepen the RPG aspect of the gameplay like Brytenwalda with Barding/Foraging skills, PoP doesn't need it, but I think it'd be great to further develop the skills already in the game.

Just loving the game. That said, I have just one suggestion, to the current active designer, Konrad, if is it possible:

- please, add some caped armors  - something lordish, something that makes us feel like a king... i have no idea if it would be a hard work to do... but i think it would be amazing... the only cape in the game is from the eventide helmet - and it's ugly as hell :/

please please, at least one or two caped armors... and then the fun would be complete

*oh, btw, i made a suggestion long ago, concerning the tournments design... are there plans for changing it somehow? if not, no problem, the current design is interesting either way

There may be three or four, including the Maltise armor and Jatu Warlord/Guard armor. It's not too much of a selection, I think is the point.

Indeed, I forgot those. But, c'mon, they're ugly... except for the jatu honor and d'shar honor armor, that I find amazing, all the others doesn't fit my request for a lordish armor, if you know what i mean... I don't even know if this word exists in english, "lordish", lol

I´ve butchered some from ACOK (among other things) and I have to say they look quite nice with some armors (bit of clipping).

YES, that's what I mean  I, myself, don't mind of a bit of clipping... as long as it looks nice hahah.
Hey Articulo, btw, does it takes a lot of job to make some of these? I've tried messing with .brf files a while ago and it came to no results at all... I can't even figure how to add a specific item from one mod to another

As far as I know, acok and perisno has some very cool capes. TLW aswell.

Not at all. You have to copy meshes, materials and textures (both within the BRF file and the textures folder) from one mod to another. That can be done as easily as selecting what you want from one BRF file, use CTRL + C on them and then opening the one where you want to copy them to and press CTRL + V.

Adding them to armors is even easier. Just find the armor you want, copy its name (for instance "plate_armor_01"), then rename the cape with it but adding a ".x" at the end (in this case the cape should be renamed to "plate_armor_01.1").

is it similar to how VC does it? there is a nice tutorial how to on their forums that works well for those armors but when i screwed around here it didnt end well and required reinstalling.

I wish there was a easy and fast fool-proof way of moving items between mods, LOL. I to have messed around with .brf files and OpenBRF etc and I always end up not being able to do it. Believe me, I've given it more than an honest try or three, but no dice.

I wish it was as easy to copy/pasting lines from one ItemKinds to another.

More or less. And that´s why you should always make backups beforehand.

Hello POP team! First of all I would like to express my gratitude to the entire POP team for spending your free time, emphasis on free, providing us with such a high quality mod. I have enjoyed POP for what is nearing ten years now, since 2009. Although the mod is perfect there is one suggestion that I would like to make for the next update, POP 3.8. This suggestion is specifically in regards to the new armors that will be in the game. Would it be possible to make the
Falcon Breastplate Over Mail-FBOM from here on- from the recent dev update,

Xl7VG4u.png

the default armor for the Knights of the Falcon-KOTF from here on- and make the current KOTF armor,
bngIaNM.jpg

the replacement for the FBOM that certain Valkyries wear? My reasons for desiring this change are

1. The KOTF are an egalitarian order in regards to gender. They express pride in both the male and female members of their order as explained by the female KOTF you meet in the tavern and Sir Rayne himself. I would think that their armor would express such views. In my opinion the KOTF armor should be the same for any member regardless of their gender. Furthermore it would give Sir Rayne an even greater connection to the KOTF as the player would know that Sir Rayne and the female KOTF are from the same order.

2. It is stated in POP lore that the Valkyries wear a falcon symbol over their breastplates for unknown reasons. The current KOTF armor-picture 2- thematically fits with most of the other armors that the Valkyries currently wear, the exception being the Azure Blue Plate. If the current KOTF armor (picture 2) is given to the Valkyries then the player could still see a connection between the KOTF and the Valkyries. This change would also give the Falcons and Valks some uniqueness while staying true to the lore.

Sorry for the long post and also I apologize if I placed this suggestion in the wrong thread. I also apologize in advance if I unknowingly broke any forum policies with this post, it was not my intention to offend or upset anyone. I look forward to your responses!

For those who do not know, I obtained these pictures from the official development thread, entitled "Dev Blog 2". The pictures do not belong to me at all. I have provided a link to the thread down below

edit: I changed "it" to "to the thread".

Hey guys, I made an account in the forum just so I can post this suggestion. It's nothing major, I've just been wondering - if I have the surgery skill to save my own soldiers, why can't I show some solidarity and save my enemies from their otherwise mortal wounds (and ransom them later  )? How I see this working is it still says that they are killed by your units, so if you don't win the fight they are still dead, but if you emerge victorious from the battle all the deaths are recalculated as if they were your own troops.

I may have done a little research but i cannot find a tweak on it. Movement Speed on maps! It is very frustrating to wait for a cattle herd or a lord or a patrol (yes, i used that tweak) or a caravan on one of those town missions. I suggest that when they follow you, their own speed lets say (5.0) on the map matches to yours which is lets say (6.0) and because they are being led by someone who has an authority, or who has leadership (meh), they will have this "forced march" status, or something like that. I hope the devs or modders would really look up on this because it really grinds my gears to baby sit the cattles and waiting for them to arrive. Cheers!

Not sure if this has been suggested: But please make minor factions(and their unique spawns) continue to spawn even when the associated faction is "Obliterated"(or at least make it a customizable option in the camping menu). Late game issues aside, I hate how it becomes so much harder to improve relations with Knight Orders because their bounties are no longer spawning.
