This thread for discussing battle strategies. What strategies do u guys against
Field Battles
1) Full cavalry enemy. For eg. against 80 Cathar Extremists.
2) Against Full Nord Infantry Army consisting of a large no. of Huscarls
3) Against balanced army which includes cavalry, infantry and archers. For eg. most faction armies like Swadian, Veagir, Agonist Order etc

Seige attack
4) Against Huscarl defense
5) Against any other defense

This may be a bit late but here are the aproaches i use:

80 Cathars:  get a few archers (about 15) this is not nessecary but helps a bit. Furrhermore you need a relativly fast horse and it would be best to have a decent one handed sword. At the beginning of the battle charge forward instantly and atract the attention of the cathars. Then lure them around in a circle. As they are pretty slow turning you can even score some easy hits on the horses or cathars. After you crippled or killed about half of the cathars you can slowly let some of them meet your inf do this by circling close to your line with the cathars some of them will break off to fight your guys.

Huscarls: pepper them with arrows and charge them in the  back with a lot of cav while your infantry ties them up.

Well balanced army: try to counter what they have: attack the archers with your cav and let your archers fire at them. Your infantry could hold against the enemy cav. Mostly i find it easier to foght against those armies because they have inconsistent troop levels (elites and recruits)  in tge end their forcees are mostly mediocre.

Hope i could help

Siege against Huscarls is like dropping fruit into a blender. But I've seen that Rhodok crossbowmen are quite effective against their shields, better than archers. Higher damage per impact helps soften them up some before the charge. Swadian Sergeants are also passable counters to Huscarls as they can spawn with the spikeball mace that punches through shields.

Haven't fought huscarls yet.

But my general strategy is as followed, especially in big battles where they don't instantly charge:
40-50% of my army is archers.
20-30% is infantry
10-20% is cav
I never charge, always hold position and lure them out.
My archers are in a long line, holding fire and the highest point near my spawn. My infantry is always about 30-40 meter in front or if my archers are on a hill, they are at the bottom of that hill, in shield wall.
(if the enemy has a lot of archer, spread them out as much as possible, if charged by infantry or cav, don't spread them out).
My cav are put on hold at the sides in wedge.
Most of the time, with big battles (like, I fought against 200 Vaegir with an army of 70), the enemy won't charge you and hold position. Their archer will fire at you.
So what I do; I lure them out. I have a fast horse and run big circles around their army and take some of them out ( I generaly can take out 10-15 of them before they charge) with my bow.
After some time they will charge your army and their archer will have ran out.
When they almost reach your infantry, tell your archer to fire. This will release a salvo and if your lucky, take out their whole front before they reach your troops.
Then I charge my cav from the side in wedge and let the battle play out.

This works against most armies (especially Tundra bandits or other armies with lot's of archer and infantry).
Carthars basicly the same set-up without drawing them out.
In my last battle I hade 60 Carthars against my army of 41 and only had 2 losses like this.
Do note that 80% of my army is the last tier or almost the last tier
