Discursive essay

I have to write one for my exams tomorrow and I am still kinda confused; what IS a discursive essay? My teacher says that a discursive essay involves tackling opposing arguments and trying to get the reader on your side of the issue, while the Internet says it's just discussing a certain topic.

It means presenting two sides of an argument, then trying to convince the reader that one side is correct by the use of reason rather than intuition.
