Hi there,

If i understand correctly, the warband expansion is standalone (you get the original AND the added contnt). is it possible for owners of the original* to get the added content for a reduced price? or do i have to pay the full price  when i order?

*bought the game somewhere halfway in the paid beta (2006).

I'd be curious about this also.

I just read that it was gonna be standalone and don't see it listed as an expansion on Steam.  Can we get confirmation on this?  I don't personally feel ripped off because of how early I bought the game but I can see how people who bought it for 30 bucks or whatever might feel that way.

I'd be all over the idea but then they'd have to set that up though every vendor selling the game.

My understanding is that it's a standalone expansion.
It works by itself, but it does not contain the original game.

There was the idea of giving a reduction for people who bought M&B, but that is no longer gonna happen.
You have to pay the full price.

If your not willing to pay $30 for this beautiful game then leave. I would pay $50 and not complain about it. Now that this game is being released I feel like a whore paying $50 - $60 for "Battlefield Bad Company 2" and "CODMW2". This game is x4 better then those 2.

So pretty much the first game is a loss and Warband is the new M&B then?

not really...

some great mods wont be ported to warband (or will take time to be ported), so the original game will still have some use, at least for some time.

How many games do you own that you are unlikely to play again?
Do you consider them "losses"?

Buying a game does not guarantee unlimited entertainment... like saying the fact that a movie only lasts two hours makes it a loss since it should have lasted forever.

Loss is maybe not the best term for it.  Like I said in my first post I personally am fine with it either way.  I think I paid $12 like 5 years ago so I'm good.  I'm just making sure I understand the situation correctly.

There is nothing better about the original M&B compared to Warband.  Warband has better graphics and more content, and nothing was drastically changed or taken out (that I know of).  So if I bought the original for like $30 or maybe a little less right before I heard about Warband, I would be very annoyed.

Not everyone has enough money to throw at video games any time they want.  I rarely buy a new game.  98% of my PS2 games are used and I got them for $10-20.  $50-60 for a video game is outrageous.  If I dont buy a game new, ill wait until the price goes down.  I bought Deus Ex: Invisible War last year for $8 on Newegg.  Warband is a great game, but im still not willing to pay $30 for it.  Ill "support the devs" when they make some freaking awesomly amazing updates that keep me glued to my computer monitor for 8 hours straight.  If steam has like a 50% or 75% off special again, ill probably buy it then download the client seperatly.  I dont like Steam...  But anyway, I think there should be some way to help out those who already bought the original (no matter what they payed).  I say reduce the price of Warband by 40% and require the original client installed and a key.  I know a lot of people have un-paid keys, but if that population was big enough Taleworlds would be out of business by now.

I'm with styo, stop complaining. Modern Warfare sold what - like 60 million? copies - at like 60 bucks a pop. What does this say about the average person's willingness to spend more on a game. Infinityward made so much money it makes my head hurt to think about it - Armagon and these devs seriously deserve to reap the benefits of their hard work. Don't complain dude, if you're not gonna pay 30 bucks for it, then don't, but stop complaining.

Seems a reasonable price to pay to me. You do not need a discount you got a better deal than money off you have been aloud to play the beta for 6 months, if thats not a deal and a half, I don't know what is really.
