History
Svea Livgarde has roots in the lifeguard of 16 men set up from the dala men set to Gustav Vasa in Januari 1521. 23rd of April 1523 they changed the lifgueads to Gustav Eriksson, but this time it only was 4 men. From 1523 and onwards the lifeguard got bigger and got known as Kungliga Drabantkåren.
Parts or the entire unit of the Drabant guard was a part of the kings life and court regiment, risen 1613 with mostly germans, together with the Yellow regiment and the Yellow brigade that took part in Gustav II Adolfs wars in Germany. The regiments two first companies made the kings lifeguard and was mostly Swedes. After the battle of Lützen the 60 survivors of the guards broguht the kings corpse back to Sweden, where the guards staff got raised to 148 men. 1644 it unified with a part of the baltic sea provinses, partially in Svealand and raised a a regiment to a big court regiment, over which Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie got command over. The majority of the regiment got disbanded after 1660 except the companies in Sweden that got left over which formed Gardes 1. Hovregemente. The regiment got raised to 24 companies and took part, with a distinction, in Karl XII's war where it got destroyed at the battle of Poltava but was raised later. The regiment had many names like Konungens Hofregemente, Gula Brigaden, Konungens Lifguardie and more until it 1793 got the name Svea Livgarde. In the beginning of Mars 1808 a battalion of 200 men from Svea Livgarde, the finnish , and swedish garde regiment to Åland. The bataljoin made in june 1808 a failed attempt of landing at Lemo close to Åbo. After the troop got reeinforced so that respective regiment had a battalion on Åland a new attempt of landing was made at Lakolaks and Helsinge but failed. Gustav IV Adolf showed his missatisfaction to the regiments during the Finnish war by demoting them to "regular" enlisted reimgnets and Svea Livgarde got changed to the name after it's regiment chef Fleetwood to the Fleetwoodian Regiment and recoeved 5 cp,åamoes from the Swedish guard regiment. Immidiatly after the dethronement of Gustav IV Adolf in March 1809 the regiment got the name Svea Livgarde back.
