I'm afraid I'm going to have to bow out... partially because I'm too lazy to learn a new set of rules, but mostly because I have too much other crap going on right now (which only serves to exacerbate the aforementioned laziness issue).
:evil:Short Stroke, you never call, you never write!!!  Leave me in France, surrounded with no back door, Grrrr!!!

I can't be arsed to read all the rules. Got to about page 5 and the rest seems to be minor interpretations and other bull****.

I haven't read them ever in one session. As long as you get the main idea, it opens up pretty nicely. no need to remind me of anything

Rules!!!  I Don't need no stinkin' Rules this is war!  (If you stick with the basic rules you can't go wrong, these "bobbing fleet" rules are just the designers way of trying to keep his hand in the pot, and all they do is needlessly complicate a simple elegant system!!!

I understand, if you're too busy to play, but there aren't any dramatic chances in the game itself :???:

Also people, today's the deadline. Hurry up.

Velmu 说:

Would some one like to tell me who is in and who is out?  With Spain in France is just possibly in deep...  Can I play Italy?  Can I have Sicily as a French suply center, how about Algeria, there's historical president for that?!!

Whine, whine, *****, complain!!!

With this new, news.  My turn will be slightly delayed.  (I'll have a move by tonight!!! But Arizona (USofA) time is somewhat askew from various points East!

Velmu, we might be having a bit of a timezone conflict, but I really can't get these orders in any sooner than seven hours.  Its the last day of classes before a brief holiday, so I'm rather busy.

(Also, seven hours from now is still well inside Tuesday, at least for me)

I honestly don't consider a dealay of a week that bad, the deadlines are only set, because I'm hoping to recieve the moves at some day. I wouldn't be making the maps later tonight anyway, so Tuesday, Wednesday, whatever. Though, when the deadline passes, don't quote me on that

And to think I bothered getting my orders in on time!

It always takes time to get used to the unwritten rules

Has anyone heard of Bulle yet? I wonder if she's aware of all this :???:

Gah... how the Hell do you play this? I'm reading this:
http://www.diplomacy-archive.com/resources/rulebooks/2000AH4th.pdf

Most of that is random errata.  Very simply, you give orders to Velmu, who works them out simultaneously.  All orders are either move or support orders.  A move is either that, or an attack, depending on what is in the territory you are moving to.  To attack an army, you need two in the area, one of which supports the other.

A sample order:

Fleet Edinburgh -> York.
Fleet London supports Edinburgh -> York

I have now ordered my fleet in Edinburgh to move to York, with the support of my fleet in London.  The support order means that if an enemy unit was in York, it would have to retreat, unless it, too, had support.  Now, if there was no enemy in York, that support order would be meaningless, since you don't need support to move into an empty territory.

That's the very basic gist of the entire game.

Morgoth2005 说:
Is Velmu there? I'm sure we've all sent out orders, right?

Actually, not everyone has sent their moves. Though tha't not the reasons things are holding, I'm just in the middle of that and that.

You'll get the turn tomorrow, that's almost a promise.
