Difficulty Rating suggestion

In the options menu, the difficulty rating, obviously, rises when you increase computer AI and battle size. However as far as I can tell there is nothing being computed with the difficulty rating besides simply showing you how good you are. My suggestion is to increase slightly EXP benefits as a reward for making the game more difficult. Any thoughts?
 
You can't really add bonuses to difficulty levels that can be changed during a game, as it's too easy to exploit them. If the difficulty had to be chosen before the game you could add rewards, but they should be set apart from stats and advancement, or you can end up rewarding people with an easier game, which isn't the reason they chose the higher difficulty in the first place.
 
There are benefits as well. More enemies on field at once: less time wasted. Better AI: your team isn't as stupid.
