(I don't think this has been suggested before, my apologies if it has.)

I propose having an option in the menu that alters the amount of equipment, goods, horses, money and troops that the player looses when they are defeated in battle.

For example:
On a "realistic" setting you would loose your horse, your armour, a lot of money, most of your goods and most of your troops.
On a medium setting you could loose one piece of armour, your horse or one of your weapons and some goods, money and troops.
On an low setting you might only loose one or two soldiers, some unused equipment and a small amount of money.

This will allow less skilled players to loose and not have to "go back to square one", whilst more confident players can have the risk of loosing a lot more if they are defeated.

Thats why he said option. Wusses who find this kind of thing frustrating can select pansy mode.

Hm, would be just another one of the already existing options like "show allied names". I tried playing with all options disabled, and must admit, that it can be very funny and challenging. You really have to watch closely what you do and sooner or later youll become better. You have to shoot without a scope, and you must be sure that it's not an allied guy you are chasing after, whereas the guy behind you better is one.

So I'm voting pro, and i suggest that these settings affect the difficulty percentage. This difficulty percentage should affect things like the xp you get, maybe directly (45% difficulty means you'll get only 45% xp, but you'll be able to beat anemies that would be too hard for you on 80% or so). So the players that are more skilled and highen the difficulty setting by disabling friendly troops names or whatever will be rewarded for taking higher risks.

Eh? I don't know if having the difficulty setting effect X.P. is a good idea. I see it as just bragging rights. In a sense, by increasing X.P., you're lowering the difficulty.

Hm, I don't think so. The level alone doesn't determine how good you are. It's completely useless if you die every two battles. So I don't see a problem there. The level/xp-difference between chars is much less important than things like not showing allied names. One-two blows and you're dead if you follow the wrong guy. Same with targeting, ever tried without the reticule? I did (with a character based on throwing), and I can tell you that the risk usually wouldn't be worth that bit of extra xp if you can't handle it.

And after all, we're talking about 10 or 20 percent or so. Let's take the battle size as an example. If I set it to 14, i have a difficulty rating of 69%, and if I set it to 40, it's 80%. And now tell me, that a 40-battle would make it easier if you get 11% more xp? I don't think so. The risk to die is much higher in larger battles. If you are a newbie, it's almost useless to set it that difficult, since you will die again and again. And if you're no newbie or managed to survive, what's wrong with getting 11% more xp? We are talking about 11%, thats nothing campared to the risk changing from 14 to 40 battle size (well, except you play this ride-around-and-knock-them-down-one-by-one, THEN of course it's easier if you get more xp, since the risk is almost zero).

If you're still sceptical, try playing large battles without any help enabled. And then tell me whether it's really worth it if you get let's say 30% more xp (if the buttons would affect the difficulty). I bet you'll enable them very soon.
