Lunchbox
Recruit
This idea has been mentioned occasionally in other threads, but I figured giving it a central thread for discussion could be handy.
Basically, I'd like to see much more varied types of troops. The troops could be split into 'regulars' and 'irregulars' types, with the regulars having all the same weapon (or type of weapon) and similar types of armour (or the same armour to give them a 'uniform' of some type), while the irregulars work like the current soldiers, armed randomly.
Also, a bit more variety in the specific types would be great. So instead of the Swadiens having "Crossbowmen" leading to "Sharpshooters", perhaps there could be an additional final level of "armoured crossbowmen", who aren't as good at range as Sharpshooters, but wear heavier armour and are decent hand-to-hand fighters. Or the infantry could have numerous final alternatives (or perhaps not even final, they could lead onto other things) such as "Bluntmen" (armed with blunt weaponry), "Spearmen" (self explanitory) or "Swordsmen" (Self explanitory). Or even the Horse-men could have an alternative to being a Knight, such as "Hussar" or "Horse archer" even.
Just something to mean that there's real -choices- involved in choosing a party. Oh, and it'd be great to try and work your way through all the different choices, trying to find which soldiers work best for you.
