i want to be able to distinguish when i get hit or just another of my lowly peasants. i dont always want to be shocked when i hear someone crying. that doesnt mean i want no sound at all for my character.
instead i want to be able to notice when i get hit either by a certain distinctable sound or perhaps "shaking" vision (like in half-life), so i can remain focused on the middle of the screen and dont have to look to the lower right corner for nearly a second coz i also want to know how much hp i lost.
hmmm..maybe only make the vision shake, when i get hit for 0 or 1 damage. if its more, add some disctinctive moan to that.
if its one third or more of my max health, make my character cry out loud.

the only way now to achieve this is to play a female char for the different cries, though she also cries when someone just clapped her back for 0 damage. hmm.

whaddya think?

Well .. the first part im not sure about , i find the sounds fairly good already. But what you said about people moaning when they get hit for 0 damage , its pretty understandable.

Its like if someone walks up and bangs you on the head with a shovel , and it doesnt hurt , your still likely to say *Owe* simply because you expect it to hurt.

Maybe all the troops can have ***** little whines, but your character unleashes earthshakingly mighty bellows of pain.

really, im just trying to suggest additions/changes that improve gameplay. thats the only reason i post here. ah, and i dont lie (implicits: im a liar)

War cries and screams always contribute to battles, this way or another i'd like to hear those.

For example if someone strikes another man, he might let out a war scream, now if it would choose between 20 different screams for variety, and you hear around 40 people screaming and swords clashing you'll achieve wargasm nirvana.
And there was much rejoice.

I think that some voices in battle are also in order. I think that firstly, being silent through a battle is a little dull, and secondly, when you issue orders and such, your character should shot them, and make there be more orders, like, "take out the horses archers!" and such.

All these little things are so goddamned important, I know they are last Phase things to do, but they need to be considered to bring a little life into the game, cos right now, thought it has potential that I have seen in no other games, it may be falling short of it's possible mark of glorified awesomeness.
