dialog freezes with centurians

I've run into a few times when talking to centurions that the game freezes (particular topics, like asking Gaius about his mercenaries)  Most of these are not to big of a deal because I can just not choose that dialog.

Unfortunately the dialog you get if a centurion dies in battle causes a freeze.  Having to refight battles if the (highly desirable) outcome of one of them dying occurs might get a bit annoying.

Anyone know a workaround for this?  Other and ctrl+f4 and reload each time. :p

V.5.0

I am having the same problem and it occurs fairly often.  I just got done fighting the same battle twice and both times was locked up in the screen.  So far its occurred about 8 times in about 2 dozens battles.  It was very heartbreaking after a slugfest that lasted most of last night.  It just seems to happen with the centurions.

By the way excellent mod.  Had it back about V.2 and love the new additions.  Hopefully, it can get to be as stable as that version.

Say, does the freeze occur only with specific types of Centurions (there are 8 personality types in total, one of them automatically dies if you defeat him in battle), or any type in general should the 5% death chance kick in ?

It would be also helpful if you listed any dialogue which might cause freezing beside Gaius' mercenaries-talk.

The one I fought three times in a row and finally had to leave alone was Centurion Rufus.

And I will get whatever dialog back to you next time it happens.

Just happened after a battle with Vulcan.

Vulcan, "I'm... bleeding... is this finally... the end...  ?"

Player, "Yes, I believe it is. Your wound is deep, and you lost much blood."
-no available dialog at either screen-

Thanks buttercup, this proves that my suspect was right.

The "nihilistic" Centurion type - which automatically dies after defeated in battle - causes this freezing when you talk to him just before he dies. I don't know what could cause the error, but at least we'll know where to start looking.

Until it's fixed, I suggest you avoid this type of Centurions and get your Lords/allies/mercenaries/patrols/whatever else to deal with them. Thanks again for letting us know.

I notice the error occuours  with the file faultrepp.dll, a  basic process for windows, microsoft reccomended to scan the register, but it doesn't resolve nothing

I wonder why that might happen though.

I encountered this same kind of freezing behavior when trying to recruit new lords.  It started happening about the time that I had taken over 3 of the 5 Calradian nations.  I basically assigned one castle per lord, so I imagine I'd recruited 20+ lords.  Once it started happening, it didn't stop.  Luckily, about that time I began getting some lords from defeated kingdoms wanting to join up.

Anyway, both problems have the same behavior:  "Left click to continue...." does nothing.

The "nihilistic" Centurion type - which automatically dies after defeated in battle - causes this freezing when you talk to him just before he dies. I don't know what could cause the error, but at least we'll know where to start looking.

For the time being, is there a way to change "nihilistic" Centurions to be some other, less troublesome type?  I.e., is there a text file that I could edit and do a search+replace from "nihilistic" to something else?

I've had the same behavior as mentioned before with the Centurions.  Just wanted to add that "freezing" is a little misleading, because the game isn't frozen, the character portrait is still animated; it's more like there isn't another dialogue screen.  The screen says "Left-click to continue", and when you click the left mouse button, nothing happens.
